Invisible Ammo from Georgia Arms
I ordered .45 acp ammo from Georgia Arms back in MAY and still have not received it. I emailed them a week ago and they said they were having trouble getting the brass and it would be a couple more weeks. Is anyone else in the same boat? I'm not desperate for ammo so the wait isn't killing me but I am starting to get ticked off! Am I being unreasonable?

Re: Invisible Ammo from Georgia Arms
Cabelas has .45 ACP - MFS $22/50 - they say large quantities in stock. I just put 20 boxes in the cart and it says in stock. They also got other .45 too I think. I've got some on the shelf but havent tried it yet. I've heard its ok stuff.

Btw, if I'm after .45 I hit Cabelas first then Ammo to Go. Works for me and I'm flush with it.

Re: Invisible Ammo from Georgia Arms
Don't feel bad - I just got 1 of 3 boxes this past week of .380 from Cabelas that I ordered back in April! I suppose at this rate, I'll get the other 2 boxes in the next year... I had actually forgotten about it as I found .380 at several other sites and stocked up, but I'm not gonna turn it down...
If you're looking for .45, ammunitiontogo.com also has some - it's frangible so it's probably not quite as cheap as typical FMJ...

Yes .45 ACP is now readily available. Cabelas and Ammo to Go are the 2 places I go. Cabelas has FMJ now - 230 gr FMJ $22/50 just waiting for you to order it.

Re: Invisible Ammo from Georgia Arms
Natchez has several differnt types of 45 in stock right now. I like them, as I can select the ammo I want, and have a notice emailed to me when they get it in. Prices always seem reasonable, and shipping is quick.

Re: Invisible Ammo from Georgia Arms
i still dont get the whole backorder thing with them especially if they can show up at a gunshow with product.
Re: Invisible Ammo from Georgia Arms
From what I saw in Chantilly, they didn't have much product. I have talked to others about Georgia Arms and they reload once-fired military casings. The military apparently cut them off some time ago with some bureaucratic BS saying that it was required to crush all of the casings. I believe it was only a couple of months ago that the military reversed that policy so Georgia Arms is trying to catch up. Like the others say, Cabela's has stock although I am backordered on some 9mm that I ordered from them. If you don't want large quantities, Dicks SG is starting to get ammo again.

$22/50 seems high to me, I've been able to find WWB at walmart for about $16 -$17 and Remington UMC at Dick's for $19.99. Granted you may have to do a little leg work for it but that's part of the fun for me.

Re: Invisible Ammo from Georgia Arms
I can't imagine why any company would want to depend on once-fired military brass for .45acp now. In the past, when the military still had a pile of 1911's, I could understand relying on it as a source. I can't see that there are enough 1911's in use by the military now to provide a reliable source of brass, so why would want to rely on a source like that?

Re: Invisible Ammo from Georgia Arms
Where do you live? I havent seen .45 or 9mm at any walmart I've visited here in NOVA for some time. I do see it occasionally at the Dicks in Fair Lakes but I dont get over there very often. As for WWB in HG calibers, I havent seen that in a store for a long time. of course thats way up here in occupied territory.40shooter wrote:$22/50 seems high to me, I've been able to find WWB at walmart for about $16 -$17 and Remington UMC at Dick's for $19.99. Wal-Mart in Fredericksburg (Central Park) had 9mm for $9.50/box last time I was there. You drove within a mile of it when you went to Gander Mountain.zephyp wrote:Where do you live? Come to think of it, if you had gone to Gander Mountain several years ago you would have been at Wal-Mart.

Thanks all. Glad to know I am not the only one waiting forever. I do think I am going to cancel my order and do some store hunting. Going to a Bass Pro shop for the first time tomorrow. Maybe I'll strike gold there. I check the walmarts here in the alexandria area and never find anything either. And they all seem to look at me like I am a bug, as if a woman looking for ammo is an oddity.

Which Bass Pro are you headed to? Richmond or the one in MD?
Re: Invisible Ammo from Georgia Arms
I'm near Quantico, I usually check the Walmart on rt1 in Dumfries & the walmart near Potomac Mills in Woodbridge. The Dumfries Walmart Had WWB 100 rnd value packs yesterday, but today they were gone.zephyp wrote:Where do you live? I havent seen .45 or 9mm at any walmart I've visited here in NOVA for some time. Re: Invisible Ammo from Georgia Arms
sweetpea, the Walmart in Kingstown usually has ammo on Friday mornings (Thursady night shipment), although I haven't been there in a while. Last I heard, when the doors open at 6am the people who are waiting for ammo literally run to the back of the store to get their goods. There's a Black woman that works in sporting goods that is very knowledgeable about what ammo will be on the next shipment. Every other Walmart I go to they say they don't know what's coming.Sweetpea wrote:Thanks all. Glad to know I am not the only one waiting forever. Re: Invisible Ammo from Georgia Arms
... Walmart in FairLakes almost never has .45 ammo; they do have .40, .380spl and 9mm (along with assorted 223/5.56, shotgun shells 12/16/20g, .22).
I'll ask about .45 next time I am over there; there are three folks that work Sporting good, two guys and a lady - all are very customer service friendly (703.631.9450).
... cannot say the same for Walmart folks over at Liberia/28 and Sudley (near 66 and the HomeDepot).
I shoot 9mm, it is typically about $10/box of 50/rds; or Walmart has been stocking 100/rd Winchester for about $20/box.
223/5.56 is $10/box of 20.
.40 is in 100/rd boxes and I believe at $30 a box (call to confirm that price, they sometimes have the wrong tags on the locked cabinet).
I ordered about 1k/rds from Cabela's (American Eagle FMJ's at 115/gr @ about $12/box of 50/rds) waited about 60 days, had the emails from Cabela's about delay in delivery, etc - ended up canceling when Walmart had cheaper ammo - just had to go in get 6 (or smile the clerk and get 10) and then have wife follow and do same.
Dick's usually has good SD rounds (HornadyCritical) and sometimes Speer's Gold; I'd stay away from the UltraMax reloads (250/rds @ about $65/box) - not good range-ammo in my opinion.
I was at VAC last weekend - they had .45 ammo (Mag - something was the brand) only about 15/boxes on shelf; Guns/Ammo up the way - had no .45 or 9mm.

I never even gave it a thought and am ashamed to say I didnt even look while I was in GM. I was in a hurry to get back home and besides I've probably got more .45/9mm than a "normal" person should be allowed to have...Moccasin wrote: Wal-Mart in Fredericksburg (Central Park) had 9mm for $9.50/box last time I was there. Having said that I hate running all over looking for ammo. Until things settle down I'm sticking with paying a couple extra bucks and ordering from the net. Quick, reliable, and I can do it from right here while running up my post count...

Also check Sportsmansguide they are starting to get a lot of calibers back in. If I can't find it local I usually shop for ammo there.

I went to the one near Richmond today. OMG! That is just about the COOLEST store I have ever been to! It's even better than the Cabelas I used to go to when I lived in PA.Moccasin wrote:Which Bass Pro are you headed to? Richmond or the one in MD?
