When I was a Revolutionary Marxist, we were all in favour of as much immigration as possible.

It wasn't because we liked immigrants, but because we didn't like Britain. We saw immigrants - from anywhere - as allies against the staid, settled, conservative society that our country still was at the end of the Sixties.

Also, we liked to feel oh, so superior to the bewildered people - usually in the poorest parts of Britain - who found their neighbourhoods suddenly transformed into supposedly 'vibrant communities'.

If they dared to express the mildest objections, we called them bigots.

nope, the whole of that place is mostly gone on self defense, and the coppers are spread very very thin once you're outbush. Even in the bush towns they are fairly sparse. They seem mostly to show up afterwards and fill out reports.

All of the ANZAC nations are goners, they followed the mother country off the cliff.

Not sure what criteria you'd use for "protecting Western civ" though....fealty to Christianity? Closed borders? Least social welfare spending? Least gun restrictions? Free markets? Low taxes?

Some combo? Something I missed?

Off the top of my head Mexico has the smallest welfare state, Monaco is staunchly Catholic, and IIRC both Ireland and South Korea have lower tax (personal and corporate) rates than us. It'd be hard to classify I guess with all the variables.

Sans religion (even that pesky Islam) we'd be way behind in education, science, and mathematics.

Not to mention the legion of charitable hospitals and aid agencies run by many religions, some of which go back a thousand years.

That is just rubbish, Kreutz. You can only guess at how history would have written itself if religion had never existed. However, you can't possibly believe that, if the human race began to abandon religion now, then we would cease to progress, in any of those academic fields.

As far as charitable hospitals and agencies are concerned. You cannot simply claim that no such thing could exist without religion. I certainly never made mention of a world without kindness, generosity, or fellowship.

If you just want list the positive effects religion has had on humanity. That is fine by me. Although you shouldn't assume that I am unaware of these effects.
