Jon Stewart: Lack Of ‘Managerial Competence’

I know many here don't like The Daily Show, but this is probably one of the best segments I've seen on it. Stewart opines last night about conspiracy theorists and their positions on topics like gun confiscation and Benghazi, but pretty much says you can't blame them for thinking like that when the government does things like the IRS scandal or the DoJ getting AP phone records.

"This has (talking about the IRS scandal) in one seismic moment, shifted the burden of proof from the tin foil-behatted to the government."

Despite Heinlein's razor, these scandals are not caused by incompetence, but by malice. The regime is a bigger threat to America and her people than Al Qaeda.

Even if you heed the advice of Mr. Heinlein not to attribute to malice what can be adequately explained by stupidity, the Obamites don't get off the hook. Heinlein's razor surely assumes a good faith effort to not gom up the works. Remember that it is the avowed purpose of the Obamites to "fundamentally change America". If ever a group has exhibited MALICIOUS STUPIDITY, this one has. Or maybe it is STUPID MALICE. Either way, they manage to screw up everything they touch because of their hate and contempt for any opinion, viewpoint, perspective or approach that is not in perfect lockstep with liberal/progressive dogma.

Indeed. As I commented when I posted this on FB:

"I still believe, I really do, that good government has the power to improve people's lives and that the people have the power to restrain its excesses." -- Jon Stewart. While I agree with Stewart's statement, the key phrase is "good government" and I believe I have a more realistic perspective of what a group of fallible people (both as the government and the voters to reign in its excesses) can do compared to his more Utopian perspective. While people can accomplish a lot of great things, we also make mistakes, are selfish, can be lazy, overreach, abuse, and consolidate power. It's who we are. So where Stewart's idea is to use big government to attempt to solve all types of problems while putting up with the ineptitude, fraud, waste, and abuse along the way, my idea is to limit government to only the services we need and thus limiting the ineptitude, fraud, waste, and abuse. Stewart could have easily not done this segment and ignored the issue because it doesn't play to his narrative, so I give him credit for taking his medicine on this segment.

Dormin, I agree with you up to a point. Whether or not the regime is stupid will depend on whether they suffer any consequences from their actions, or skate away on the Teflon, or even worse, succeed in using these incidents as a means of increasing their dictatorial power over an ignorant, impotent society.
