Best subcompact under $600.00
Having a hard time deciding in the best value manufacturer for a concealed carry weapon. I have an XD 40 3", but am interested in finding another. Any suggestions?

You get a quality firearm in that price range. Each manufacturer offers something different and it depends on what you prefer. For SD, I'm a Glock fan. Simply, functional and reliable. Nothing wrong with other options though.
What has you wondering or uncertain about your XD?

I have an XDs and love it. I also have a Glock and it is probably my favorite gun to shoot. I have the G19 so it 9mm.
Both carry super easy. Right now I am carrying the Glock but I frequently carry the XDs. For lots of shooting the XDs is a bit of a pain with only a 5 round mag or even the 7.

It depends on how small you want to go.
G19 is small enough to CCW, but the G26 is smaller, but the PM9 is smaller.
I shoot the G19 and the G26 almost the same.
I don't shoot the PM9 as well.

I found a good deal on a Taurus PT709 Slim three years ago and its been my carrying gun every since. It is very concealable (single-stack), as accurate as any other sub-compact I've fired, and after a couple thousand rounds through it I haven't had any reliability issues. I was a little skeptical at first but I really like the pistol. Prior to this Taurus I had an XD9 SC (loved it but a little bulky) and a PPK/S (hated it, unreliable).

G26 - with a G17/19 mag as backup. Simple, functional tool. Carries very well. You can find them new < $600.

This is my carry pistol. Can be tricky finding a good holster, but it's comfortable to carry and reliable.dmharvey wrote:I found a good deal on a Taurus PT709 Slim three years ago and its been my carrying gun every since. +2. I have read a lot of negatives about Taurus but mine has been incredibly reliable and has a better than average trigger. I really like the size and feel of it.dmharvey wrote:I found a good deal on a Taurus PT709 Slim three years ago and its been my carrying gun every since. I have an XDM 9C; an M&P 9C, and an M&P Shield. The latter two are my constant companions. Don't get me wrong, the XDM is awesome, esp. with the new trigger and Trijicon HD, but the M&Ps just conceal better on me. I choose which one to carry based on how I will be dressed and how deep I want to conceal.

I have a Sig Sauer P250 compact 9mm, lifetime warr. for original owner
. I did 5 months of research on many different handguns. As some have stated, it is a matter of preference. I have many friends that have had yrs. of training under their belt and after my purchase each have said that it was a great choice.

Might I suggest the Walther PPS? I have one in 9mm (also available in .40) and it conceals very comfortably under my t shirt in a Crossbreed IWB holster. Shoots well, reliable ad good ergos IMO.
