C.F. Phelps Range question.

Post by RO73 »

I did a quick search but the last thread I found was from 2010. I am looking to take my 8 year old daughter so she can shoot her new .22 rifle. I just wanted to ask those of you who have been to this range if it is kid friendly. I want her to have a good experience. Please let me know your thoughts. Due to work and school, we plan on heading down on a Saturday or Sunday.

Thanks.

Range closed March 31 for the summer recreation season... you'll have to wait till September to use the range.

Is now a 'fee' area. You need a hunting licence or a access permit to use any of the WMA's for any reason now.

The range is open, and uncontrolled... kid friendly depends on who shows up. I've generally had good luck there.

Note, the range is rifles, and single shot pistol only.

Damn. I guess I didn't even think to look at that. Any recommendations for an outdoor range that is kid friendly? I know some clubs require memberships but I would like a place that we can try before joining. I'm in Nova.

Thanks.
