Hite Hollow closure

Post by Roverhound »

There are signs posted at the Hite Hollow rifle range stating that in 2014 the range will have a seasonal closure from January 1st to May 1st. There is no explanation given for this.
I as well as many others use this range year round.
I suggest that if you don't want to see this range closed, you call the forest service.

I've dealt with Elwood before (District manager). He's a nice guy but has no problems closing things up.
We need to jump on this before we loose it altogether.

I doubt very much that making shooting ranges on Federal lands more freely available to gun owners is a top priority of the current administration in Washington, nor of Virginia's two Senators.

This has nothing to do with our federal government or state senators but thank you for your help.
After talking to Elwood, the reason stated for the closures (Westside range in WV is also going to be closed for the same amount of time) was vandalism. He denied point blank that this has anything to do with the political climat in DC.
If we can all call and voice our concerns we may be able to change his mind. on this.
As someone who uses this range weekly it would be appreciated if you could take the effort to call.
