Good news?

"To do this by surprise, to rush it through in a day, even though they control the Committee on Privileges and Elections — this is sneaking, underhanded, and beneath the dignity of the Senate."
But it's ok when Democrats do it with gun laws in New York.

or force a vote like on obamacare just to "see what's in it"
And if Bruce Dickinson wants more cowbell, we should probably give him more cowbell!

I do not particularly agree with this measure myself. Since it is pretty much gerrymandering. And I have heard the excuses that this is what the Democrats did back when they controlled the legislature. That is no excuse. And this only clouds the Republicans message. Although I did find this quote rather laughable.
Democratic Sen. Don McEachin said. "The good working spirit that this Senate has had will come to a very quiet, very sudden end if this bill is passed.
Most of the votes in the Senate I am aware of have come down to a tie that has to be broken by the lieutenant governor. Although to be honest, for the most part this does not particularly break my heart too much. As the more time they waste, the less they can screw things up for us.

I love it!

But I guess we better be glad Virginia's "blue laws" are a thing of the past, huh? Otherwise the dems would claim it was void because the business was conducted on a high holy day. :hysterical:

Exactly. Small loss; if not a gain. Next thing you know they'll be claiming it violates the Voting Rights Act or something.

Correct me if I am wrong, but doesn't the Federal Justice Department still have to approve this even if the Governor signs it? One of those laws that came out of either the Civil War or Civil rights movement era??? It is still early for me and my brain is not in high gear yet.

Gerrymandering has been a standard practice since Elbridge Gerry started it in the 18th century. FWIW, the change creates a solid "minority" district, so the Dems are squealing about losing a lily-white senator. Boo freakin' hoo.

I don't put any stock in the claim that this move will hurt "bipartisanship". The Democrats have proven that they don't care about that, as their standard tactic is scorched-earth, take-no-prisoners, tooth-and-nail, dirty politics.

"There have been no hearings on this plan. The public has no idea what these districts look like," Democratic Sen. Don McEachin said.
Wow, the pot calling the kettle black.....

I LOVE the one sidedness of this all and the "horror" of no hearings... :hysterical:

While we're at it, we need to repeal the 17th Amendment, which was a vote-rigging scheme by the original "Progressive" Democrats under Woodrow Wilson to diminish the power of the states and expand that of the federal government and the Democrat party.
