I like how it's always a call for "sensible gun safety measures" or "common sense gun legislation".
- "Sensible gun safety measures" were passed in 1934 in the National Firearms Act.
- "Sensible gun safety measures" were passed in 1968 in the Gun Control Act of 1968.
- "Sensible gun safety measures" were passed in 1986 in the Firearm Owners Protection Act.
- "Sensible gun safety measures" were passed in 1993 in the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act.
Let's drop the ruse and just call it what it is - chipping away at the 2nd amendment.

Unfortunately he is from Fairfax County. Possible to vote him out? Sure. Is it likely? Probably not. That county is deep blue, and a major reason Obama won Virginia along with Loudoun County which I am ashamed to say also went blue last November
I live in Prince William County but I can still smell the stench from Fairfax County over here. How any person in their right mind could vote for Connolly is beyond me. I thought his performance during the congressional hearings about Fast and Furious was very un-American. He is nothing more than a minion for King Obama and the Democratic Party. But of course those nimrods in Fairfax are no better than he is.
Had the chance in 2010 but nominated Fimian (who only lost by 500 votes). If the R's had been reasonable and nominated Herrity, we'd probably be free of Connolly. Now he's a three termer with name recognition-he'll be difficult to dislodge.
I know it was a waste of time, but I sent the following recently to this pompous a##...
"Sir: I have seen your replies to other supporters of the Second Amendment, where you say you support "common sense reforms". I would like to point out that numerous "common sense" laws have already been passed by previous Congresses. For example the National Firearms Act in 1934; the Gun Control Act of1968; the Firearm Owners Protection Act was passed in 1986; and the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act was passed in 1993. Each time, Congress punishes law-abiding citizens by chipping away at our Second Amendment rights, and we still have violent acts. Law abiding citizens are not the problem, but you seek to punish us because of the evil acts of criminals. You say you support the Second Amendment. Prove that you support your law abiding constituents by not taking any more of our Second Amendment rights away. Go after the criminals who commit these atrocities by demanding full enforcement of the hundreds of laws already in existence."
