These tragedies must end; we MUST put politics aside

We can do better than this. We must try.

I'm announcing Mr. Biden to form a task force to review our SUV policies and formulate a plan to be at my desk by mid-January.

If you want total security, go to prison. There you're fed, clothed, given medical care and so on. The only thing lacking... is freedom.

Regulating the size of sodas doesn't go far enough! Trans fats should be a felony!

I think NY should consider Subway Train control. There has to be a way to keep the people safe from those who want to use these deadly devices to kill.

You can't prevent these tragedies from happening, but we have to do something!

I propose legislation to limit all vehicles to carry a maximum of two people. At least it will limit the number of people that die if this happens again.

Or how about banning the sale of assault vehicles which weight more than 5,000lbs. Clearly no one needs a vehicle weighing that much and once you get there they handle like pigs and that is the root cause of many crashes.

We must all ban together and ban those damn cars,or at least limit the amount of gas they can carry and how fast they can go. :enlighten: :einstein:

We don't need more legislation on how big or small cars can be. What we need is more and better driver training. Maybe my view on the matter is skewed, since I'm a mechanic and I spend all day in and around cars, but it amazes me how bad most of the people I have to share the road with are at keeping their vehicles under control.

How many times have you seen someone go the wrong way down a one-way street because they were distracted by something? I stopped counting at 10. How many times have you seen someone trying to park a car head-first in a parking space and failing to get it between the lines on the first, second, or fifteenth try? I see it every day.

In my opinion, you should need more than a face, a name, and a small amount of money to be able to drive a car in this country. You should have to be able to prove that you can actually control a motor vehicle in bad weather, or in heavy traffic, or while being distracted, or a combination of all three.

I could go on, but this is neither the time nor the place.
I don't make plans. That's how "premeditated" gets thrown around the court room.
