My dad and I were talking about taxes the other night and this video just reinforces how complex the problem is. I said that we do a better job at solving simple problems than we do solving complex problems (and we have many complex problems that aren't getting solved). I said only by scaling back the scope of government do we have an easier time in planning on how to come up with the revenue to pay for government. No more different rates based on how much you make, different rates based on how you make your money, or complex deductions.

Unfortunately there are too many people that make their money by preserving the status quo so the chances of any of these complex problems being simplified are slim to none.

My old accountant told me point blank he voted democrat because a flat tax would put him out of business.

At least he was honest.

This is far more complex than it needs to be.

The best way to solve complex problems is to start removing complexities.

If the original scope of government had been left as it was, then we wouldn't need all these complex tax codes and what-not.
