Richmond - Dominon Shooting 2013 Membership $150
On sale until the end of the year, Dominion Shooting is offering their 2013 membership for $150 (normal price $300). Membership covers your range fee (normally $8/day), 15% off ammo (have to shoot what they supply), and you get 10 free guest passes. Also those who enter before the end of this year are entered into their drawing for a M&P Shield.
In the half a dozen times I've been there this year I haven't had any problems there. I think the staff is friendly and the quality of the range is on par with what I'd expect from a business near Midlothian Tpke & Chippenham Pwky. Some people that reload or have a big supply of ammo may not like going there, but I don't have a big stockpile yet and figure I either have to buy their ammo and only pay $8 range fee, or go to Walmart to buy some ammo then go to CSA and pay $20/hour. For what I shoot I make out better at Dominion, but I went to CSA when I got my new carry weapon and I wanted to try different ammo brands through it.
If you like shooting at Dominion but haven't been there in awhile, this might be what you're looking for to get some more shooting time in there. For what I shoot I only have to go once or twice a month for it to pay for itself.

Re: Richmond - Dominon Shooting 2013 Membership $150
I never understood why Dominion didn't take some of those profits and funnel them into improving their range. Just simple things like improving lighting, better ventilation, fixing the target systems so they didn't flip their breakers(reset switch is on the motor), getting the carpet off the walls and proper acoustic tiling, even just repainting everything. I'm not saying that they need a full reno but a little work here and there would go a long way. And the in house ammo only thing drives me nuts. I wouldn't be opposed to them charging me a little extra(maybe $10/day) to shoot my own stuff. As it stands I bet they're going to lose memberships and they're going to only going to be attractive to customers interested in price, perhaps shadier clientele. Such customers are going to drive away their better business.
The staff at Dominion has been great to me, I'll give em that but so has the staff at CSA(some exceptions).
That said, that a pretty good discount.

I have only been to Dominion twice. No real complaints...The daily fee isn't bad , I do hate having to buy ammo from them when I stock pile it all the time. I have a buddy who works close to Dominion and goes there once sometimes twice a week. He did buy a membership and I am sure I will go as a guest . I am lucky to have several places to shoot that is close to home , doesn't cost anything and I can shoot my own ammo. I can also shoot anything I want. We also have a nice skeet set up , very private and in the middle of 45 acres. I also go to Ft. Lee Range when I can. I like shooting outdoors rather than indoors.

My first time shooting my Glock (tonight) was here. While I don't have any other range to compare it too, I was happy with the experience and the staff. (Sorry I didn't care about it being a little run down....people shoot here..). It didn't look like there was anyone "shady" there either. Will definitely be checking out other ranges. They only had "premium" 9mm ammo...box of 50 for $39.00 PHEW!! Plus the $8.00 charge.

But you're not paying $39 just for 50rds because they obviously don't keep that place open and staffed just off of $8 range fees (which they have promotions almost every day to discount that) and consignment gun sales.ProShooter wrote:$39 for 50 rds. of 9mm?Glock19Gen4Lady wrote:. SWEET JEEBUS!I'm in the wrong business!
I like shooting at Dominion but was initially put off by that $39 price tag too, but then I thought I could go on Thursday when CHP holders pay no range fee and shoot a box of 9mm. My bill is $39. Or I can drive an extra 20-30 minutes to go to CSA, pay $20 range fee and shoot a box of my ammo that I paid $14 for at Walmart and my total is $34, then try to find another box of ammo to replace the one I shot. If you're already in the West End, CSA is the place to shoot (especially if you have ammo stored up), but for those in Chesterfield that don't want to drive across town to save a few bucks or for those that can't get their hands on 9mm ammo, Dominion isn't a bad option.
I would recommend Glock19Gen4Lady shoot on Tuesdays where ladies pay no range fee that day (ladies night promotion) or if she shoots with someone else go on Friday where it's 2 for 1 range fee.

I think I will only go on Tuesday (maybe they will have cheaper ammo next time...not just the premium). With the $20.00 range fee I end up saving and can shoot as much as I bring so that's an awesome option too. Thanks for the info.

Re: Richmond - Dominon Shooting 2013 Membership $150
ive been going there over the past few months almost every saturday after work. started going there while pow range on ft lee was closed for gvt seq. its a decent place, little run down, but shooting there reloads is just as cheep as anything you can by. there 22 is a little high but they got to pay the light bill. was waiting for the discount on membership to join. ft lee is back open
(limited and for how long?) but figure ill do both, atleast at ft lee you can go out to about 90y and shoot 223. but be real nice when dominion starts letting you shoot ak/ars again. been using a 22conv on ar to still shoot it. but evem ft lee dont do ak's so ive been holding off getting one till i have somewhere to shoot it. bottom line is for the money you cant beat it unless you can shoot at home and if so, where do you live? ill be your best friend

Went to Dominion a few weeks ago and had a lot of issues (so did everyone else) with their ammo. Everyone had a lot FTE's, FTF's and a few stove pipes. Could not tell the difference between their "premium" ammo and their reloads. Both types of ammo resulted in the same issues. Shot 50 rds. of Remington 230gr without issue. Was not a good day at the range.
