Saiga 12. Gas adjustment, tapco internals, 20 round drum mag (among several others), basically the most well built Saiga 12 I've ever seen. I'll let the pictures do the talking.
Thoughts?

I had a SCAR 17 and 16. I also had a bunch of Glocks and a couple H&K pistols. Oh and a DDM4, but I sold everything when our government told me these dangerous tools can actually hurt someone. Apparently they grow legs and go on killing sprees.

I'll try to get some rounds through it tomorrow. Then I'll know for sure. I'm confident it'll run without any issues as it was built by a very experienced collector. I paid a good penny for it, but to be honest, in a way it should have cost more. I know the guy. He is pretty much a Guru when it comes to these.

I like the idea of the 20-round drum - if it works right. Do you know where I can find one for MY Saiga 12?

Gun-crazy? Me? I'd say the gun-crazy ones are the ones that don’t HAVE one.
The 20 round drum is neat, but I've read there have been issues when they've been kept loaded in warmish temperatures. The springs press against the husks and flattens them a little, possibly to the point of FTFs. I'm really interested to hear about the practical side - reliability and weight.
Can't you take an extra day or two off to shoot this thing?!? Tell your boss Gene said it was ok.
And if Bruce Dickinson wants more cowbell, we should probably give him more cowbell!
I should be shooting it tomorrow. I don't have much buck shot, so I'll be turning the gas dial up. Either way, I should shoot just fine. I will say, I'm a little skeptical of the 20rounder myself, though I know this setup has ran it before without issue.

I lucked out. The 20 round drum is an MD. I'll probably look for a couple more though. Thanks for the heads up!
As it turns out, his thing was built mainly by CSS. From what I understand, they are the go to guys for Saiga 12s. I should have a list of everything tomorrow evening.

Ran it today, and was impressed! Had two stoppages with the 20 round drum and using federal bird shot. I believe it to be operator error as I was hip firing it not allowing the recoil to do its job. When I had it on my shoulder properly, even the 20 rd drum worked perfect. Of course it ran well with the 00 buck shot. I could even hip fire that with the 20rd drum without issue.
I didn't realize all the fun I was missing without one.

OK. Ordered some Saiga-12 20-round drums AND a front rail suitable for a light. Didn't know those drums were available. Besides, those 10-round banana clips pretty much suck.
First time I ever added an accessory rail to anything (well, except a Marlin Camp Carbine my oldest son and I pimped out way back when). If'n I ain't careful, you guys are gonna ruin my standing amongst my hard-bitten hill-country brethren; who will snigger at me when they see me all "tacticaled-out". It's liable to cause a knife fight or maybe cause somebody to have to carry home an @ss-whuppin' (prob'ly me); or at least get somebody cussed till a fly wouldn't light on 'em (THAT I can hold my own at with anybody).
But NO MATTER WHAT, I draw the line at puttin' a sight on a shotgun. It just ain't right.

I swear I just can't see the reason for a scope on a shotgun. To me, that'd be like bloomers on a hog - - - - - wouldn't do nuthin' but get in the way of what comes natural.

I personally see no reason for rifle-type ironsights on a shotgun. A simple bead or a ribbed barrel is damn plenty. If the range and/or nature of the target dictate ironsights, you ought not be using a shotgun to begin with.
