Heard about the petitions?
Heard about these petitions to the White House to secede...
I won't go into whether I believe in what they are petitioning here... however, I do not like the other people, Obama supporters, and Main stream media saying those that are practicing their right to petition to secede be stripped of their rights, and deported.
I think that people have the right to do so, and people should not demonize them for them expressing that right.
My two cents.
Also I was surprised not to find anything on here about it.

SHOOT TM! YOU BAKED DA' BISCUITS! You have to have one!
Re: Heard about the petitions?
Its simple really. Get in line and do what they say and nobody gets deported. I am waiting for the revolutionary petition to hit, personally. Secede if you want but don't expect any rights or freebies if you want to be different. Sounds like a spanking is neeeded all around! Just my 2. Cents.

We tried that before and it didn't turn out so well,
but I can't say that I blame them.

Re: Heard about the petitions?
Here's something we're discussing today.
What if the Founding Fathers had seen the mess that the Federalists society entitlements had created, renamed the country the "SOVEREIGN STATES OF AMERICA", and each state operated it's own governing like a country.
The only thing the Federalist could do it make a common currency, set education standards for a Minimum, and work import/export tariffs.
The States would have a standing militia that the GOVERNORS would have to agree to be used for FEDERAL actions! (No more "executive orders for force").
We would have been a much different country. What say you?

Goods would cost alot more paying duties at every state along the way. Can't imagine running telecommunications across state lines when every one is essentially a nation-state either.Reverenddel wrote:Here's something we're discussing today.

I'm sorry but Federal regulation (not outright control) of interstate commerce was and is a good idea.

Dunno about that... You have a unified European transit system, communication system, and electrical grid without a "Federalist" system...
I know I'm not one to praise Europe, but if they can do it with as much disfunction between nations, I cannot see a group of like-minded "State-nations" having an issue.

That is correct. It is "these united states" and the states, together, authorized the federal government into existance. The federal government would not have existed without the states and it is the states that lend the power.

Since when are our states even remotely "like-minded"?
