Hello all,
I'm new around here. I want to purchase a pair of 1911s with either a nickel finish or a bright stainless finish. The problem is that everywhere I look, they are out of stock. I don't understand. Most firearm enthusiasts that I have spoken to frown on such as gun as to garish, too prone to glare to properly aim, and too likely to give up your position in a gun-fight. But apparently I am not the only one who thinks they are so cool because there is obviously a market for them.
With that being said, I am preparing to purchase two brushed stainless steel 1911s and have them polished to a bright stainless finish. Can anyone recommend a gunsmith close to the Hampton Roads area? Has anyone ever had such a procedure done on a firearm? I have already e-mailed Bob's Gun Shop in Norfolk and I was told that they would not be interested in doing such a thing. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated

Tangentially related, Vuurwapenblog has a vid for a two year followup on a diy electroplating. Favorable results. Sooo.... If you are willing, a diy might be an alternative.

And if Bruce Dickinson wants more cowbell, we should probably give him more cowbell!

That was an informative video to say the least. I am not sure that I have the time right now to go the diy route but somewhere along the road that will definitely be on the bucket list as a project for my pops and myself
