I was looking at a Dednutz mount today at Loudoun Guns for my Savage 93R17. It's a medium height mount, and I was tempted to try it, but I was unsure about the height with my Nikon 3-9x40 BDC 150 Rimfire. The outside diameter of the Nikon objective is 50.3mm/1.98inches. I could not find the info on what height the rings on the mount were, so I opted for Leupold high rings (as my Weaver mediums didn't fit.)
With the Leupold high rings, cheek weld seems good on the stock, but I think I could do a touch lower.
Here is what the rifle looks like with the Leupold rings.
Thoughts?
As far as the scope - I like Nikon glass on my camera, so I figured Nikon scopes for my .22LR and now .17 HMR - esp for $0 and $50 - was too good to pass up. I've been sitting on them a while. I put the 4x32 Rimfire on the 10/22 Takedown with QR rings. I haven't tried them in the field yet, so curious as to any experiences or thoughts here.
Thanks!

Any issues with bolt operation clearance, or is the scope's clearance above the barrel the only issue? A medium height mount is normally used with a x40 scope, but sometimes a low mount will work if the receiver is high enough or the rifle has a highly tapered barrel.

Charlie - bolt works just fine. Did the close your eyes, mount the rifle to shoulder, see where your eye is thing and I could stand it being a touch lower.

Then the DNZ medium may work for you - it will probably be tight. I have a medium DNZ on a Ruger 10/22 with a Mueller x43 scope - plenty of barrel clearance with this setup. However, I always buy my scope mounts from a source where it's easy and inexpensive to return if necessary - too many times I've run into the unexpected.

Picked up the DNZ during lunch, and mounted it to the rifle. Plenty of space. Going to see how well the rifle shoots here shortly!

Glad it worked for you. I've been happy with mine.Mindflayer wrote:Picked up the DNZ during lunch, and mounted it to the rifle. Plenty of space. Going to see how well the rifle shoots here shortly!

Hmm, perhaps I should write up my scope/ring mounting process. It's allowed me to mout a scope literally 1/10th of an inch off the barrel first try...I had to trim the NightForce rubber cap's lip because it was too thick. Exactly what I wanted on that rifle.
