I just moved to the Manassas area and have been looking for a place to hunt deer. All the places I think I have found are bow, crossbow, and muzzle load. I am wondering where and if there are any places near by that allow rifle hunting. I will be using a 30-30 or 30.06.
Thanks,
Matthew

Welcome to VGOF, Matthew
There are very few places in VA where you can hunt with a rifle, unless you are in a tree stand. The VA DGIF is the best place to find out where.

If you want to use a rifle, generally speaking you need to get out of flat country (where hunting is frequently confined to shotguns because there is no "backstop") and into the hills. I'm not familiar with the country up there, but I used to cut across from New Market to Manassas on 221 on the way to goose hunt in Maryland, and I remember some pretty respectable mountains where I always saw a few deer from the road. I'd look for a place in Shenandoah, Rappahannock, and maybe Madison County.
