Hero guard shot thwarting attack at Family Research Council HQ

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2012/08/15/gu ... ncil-shot/

"Sources told Fox News that after guard took away his gun, the suspect said, "Don't shoot me, it was not about you, it was what this place stands for.""

Makes me ashamed to be a conservative. :coffee:

Hmmm... I don't see anything in your cited source that mentions the shooter having an affiliation with any group of any kind. Perhaps you have other sources that you'll provide links for?

Hold on while I pull my tongue out of my cheek.

If it was a conservative it would be broadcast from the emergency management loudspeakers by now and there would be a campaign video from Obama.

I wonder if it is true he was carring a chick-fil-a bag.

This:
"Sources told Fox News that after guard took away his gun, the suspect said, "Don't shoot me, it was not about you, it was what this place stands for.""

pretty much tells the story.

Oh crap, my ironimeter is out of calibration. Carry on!

I looked for the story on CNN earlier today. A search for "DC Shooter" on their site popped up salient content at #7, behind stuff about Fort Hood, Aurora, and "White House Monday, the latter of which arranged so that the most important data was that it was Obama's birthday.

Maybe this thread should have just been a posting on

As support to why liberals shouldn't be welcomed to the cause of 2A rights. They seem to be prone to violent actions in the face of social issues. I'd rather see them unfamiliar with firearms and easily subdued!

"Cops: LGBT volunteer shoots conservative group's guard

(AP) WASHINGTON - A man suspected of shooting and wounding a security guard in the lobby of a Christian lobbying group had been volunteering at a community center for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people.

A law enforcement official has identified the suspect arrested in Wednesday's shooting as Floyd Corkins II of Herndon, Va. Investigators were interviewing his neighbors.

Another official says the shooter made a negative reference about the work of the Family Research Council before opening fire. The officials spoke anonymously because they were not authorized to discuss the ongoing investigation.

David Mariner is executive director of The DC Center for the LGBT Community. He says Corkins had been volunteering at the center for about the past 6 months. Mariner describes Corkins as "kind, gentle and unassuming.""

Good thing this "kind, gentle, and unassuming" wacko wasn't proficient with his handgun!

CNN article reads:

"He will be formally charged Thursday with one count of transporting weapons and ammunition across state lines, a federal violation"

I thought it was perfectly leagle to transport weapons and ammunition across state lines.
