mini14 restocking

Post by speezack »

I have an older model Ruger mini14/.223 which has the wood stock... I want to put a nice, functional (what I refer to as "Polygrip") AR type stock on it similar to my M4... I think the ones I have looked at seem cheap and I just don't want to cheapen up this nice little gun. I drilled and tapped and mounted a nice little 1X5 Redfield on it and it shoots really good.

Any suggestions... I have searched the web and even saw a few at the Richmond gun show last weekend but nothing "flipped my trigger". :enlighten:

The only ones I am aware of are the ATI and Butler Creek.

It is nice to see some mini love. They are fine rifles.

thanks for the info, I will check them out.... yes it is a fine little rifle... it is as said... a "MINI" 14... which is why I like it... I have always been partial to the M-14 as a former Marine.... I actually went through PI with an M-1 Garand... the 14 wasn't issued my unit for a year or so later... and then of course in NAM... we were always the last to get the "good stuff"... but that is another issue...........

Hoorrah for the old stuff....

Bill,
Try Choate Machine, and Tool... I put one on my Stainless Mini about 20 years ago, and it's the truth!

Give it a look.

I remembered a somewhat hard to find one. Do a search for the federal ordnance mini-14 folding stock.

I just bumped into this thread. I posted a review of the ATI stock on a Mini-14 (I have a 580-series) http://vagunforum.net/rifles/review-ati ... 13977.html . It adds some weight to the gun but it's been solid for the couple hundred rounds I've run through it since then.
I have a TAPCO stock on a 10-22 which seems like it would be lighter but the butt is not as solid. It's simpler, though.
