Re: Drones in Nova?
There seem to be a lot of comments about shooting them down if they invade private property airspace. I wonder what the repercussions would be for shooting one of these out of the sky? What are the legalities regarding how much airspace a private property owner actually "owns"?

It would be no different than shooting at any aircraft flying over your property. You'll be looking at the world through gray bars for a long, long time.

That's what I thought. My guess is that it would be hard to sneak up on one of them, too.OakRidgeStars wrote:It would be no different than shooting at any aircraft flying over your property. You'll be looking at the world through gray bars for a long, long time.

from what I am finding, you own "as much air space as you can actually use" no defined altitude written in law, that being said even if your right to privacy is being violated and you flex your trap and skeet muscles, I don’t know anyone with deeper pockets than the FED (sadly their pockets being yours and mine) to defend themselves against their army of lawyers hell bent on shredding our Constitutional rights as American citizens.

If the Feds will charge you with a felony for shining a laser pointer at aircraft, image what they'll do if you start shooting at one?

Re: Drones in Nova?
wonder how using the stand your ground law would help?.... I seem to remember a post not too long ago where someone claimed they were taking their medication and a teryldactal attacked them. The victim of the attack defended himself by shooting down what ended up being a drone
Another point i'd like to make, there is a couple of houses full of drones up there in Northern VA

Can't speak to the effectiveness of it, but that sure is one entertaining defense.skeeterss0 wrote:

Probably won't make much difference except for 2 things:
(1) WHERE they lock you up. You might go to a padded cell instead of a regular jail
(2) HOW LONG they keep you. If you're convicted of a crime, they'll give you a specific sentence that might be reduced by good behavior, parole, etc. If they decide you're crazy, they can keep you until they decide you're not crazy anymore. Given that you own and fired a gun in NOVA, you might NEVER get out.

If the government wants to spy on you with a drone that thing is gonna be so high in the air you won't even know its there. Not sure what this guy saw is as he claims.

Re: Drones in Nova?
People on F'Burg Craigslist were talking about spotting drones around here and people reminded them of all the Military Bases in VA. AP Hill, Quantico, Langley AFB, Fort Lee, Fort Belvoir, and multiple interests to protect so I would expect them here. If you shot one down, I would expect a lengthily prison sentence.
