House Dems to move ahead on health care
Folks the dems have reached agreement and are moving this forward. We all know they are supposed to recess in a couple of days but Pelosi and Obama may hold them up to get this to the floor for a vote. This may be our last chance to let congress know how we feel.
Spence and I and others have posted 2-3 threads in this forum with letters you can send. If you care about the future of health care in America please do that today. Heres the latest news article.

Dk, I just sent you a pm on this. I can't doo much research now, my connection is too slow. It has just recently been brought to my attention that the wording of this bill may require those on medicare to be counselled every 5 years, sooner if helth problems dictate, as to options concerning euthanasia. See link http://www.lifenews.com/bio2896.html.
This is suppsoedly somewhere around page 425/430. I've read some of the bill and it is somewhat confusing as to exactly what it says. There is reference to the Secretary (I assume Secretary of HHS) being able to make decisions about some of the care. So, the government gets a voice in our healthcare? Didn't they say that wouldn't happen?

Re: House Dems to move ahead on health care
Gary, you are absolutely correct. The version I read had language for mandatory counseling once you reach a certain age or if you're diagnosed with specific diseases. Mandatory counseling for what? End of life services. It doesnt specifically call out euthenasisa but it gets close. It specifically states patients in these categories must be counseled about hospice and end of life services. In case you dont know anything about hospice you are generally only admitted if you refuse life saving measures and additional treatments for your illness.
Folks this has been on of my biggest fears for years. If the government legalizes euthenasia then we are just one step away from someone making the next connection: why should a health care provider give you care if you've been diagnosed with a terminal illness. Or why should a health care provider give you medical care once you reach a predetermined age - you are probably going to die soon anyway - right. They arent looking at this as providing care. To them we are merely business decisions.
I'm not trying to sounds trite, but we all know how far left these bozos have pushed this country. IMO there is nothing they will stop at.
Please start sending those letters and faxes. Make calls. Let them know we will not stand for this.

I did a little looking and so far this isn't cast in stone as of yet. We do have some breathing room, one part of the Blue Dogs deal was no floor vote till September, We need to keep an eye on this and find out the prerequisites that are in it,, If they have that BS about illegals Acorn etc: Get on the stick right away and hammer the hell out of your congressman, and remind him/her to read the damn thing too. I will just say,,"The gloves are off" Hit hard and hit often,,,We can't afford to get poked by this one, I personally don;t like the sound of Soylent Green,, And wouldn;t put it past them.

We need to read it too. Hammer Congressmen and Senators to read it also but DO NOT TRUST THEM to do it for you. Read it yourself so that you can needle them and pin them to specific provisions. If we don't know what it says they can tell us anything they want- which they try to do already.

Spence you are right that we may have some time on this one, but dont be surprised if Pelosi of Orbama keep them a little longer from their precious vacation to push a vote through.
Gary - spot on!! They post these things in PDF so they are easy to navigate and search. If you're diligent you can indeed scan them for critical info. If you have an hour you can read and get some comprehension. Its in our best interest to do so.

Re: House Dems to move ahead on health care
This BIG DEAL they keep raving about amounts to like 4 Blue Dogs in a comittee agreeing to the plan. The other 52 or so are not on board yet. The libs like Waxman and other social pariah are not happy ,The Blue Dog version doesn't include the kitchen sink and the freaking plumbing in the grab bag of party favors for the dead beats and reject social program abusers of California,,, SO we haven;t seen the end yet.. When it does come we all need to be prepared to react quickly, Read it and then hammer the crap out of those in Congress, Especially if they DON"T read it.That is goes up my butt on daily basis that these self rightous asses think their immune to doing the job we pay them for,How the hell can you vote on a multi page bill and not know what's in it? We also need to see how much barbeque meat is in the final bill , If they ever stopped the government waste in this country we could all be rich and have health care,We lose billions every year to the whim of Congress and that crap needs to be reeled in big time.

Yes, and I read today that they are porking up the upcoming defense budget too. Shameful.

Hell yeah ,, Nothing new there. Lets see if Obama has the balls to veto it like he said he would,, I just hope that people are really paying some attention to all this and deliver the ultimate gift in 2010 and 2012 ,,, Seeing a lot less career politicians around would do us all a world of good,

IMO he will only if he sees it as an opportunity to regain some of the political capitol he's lost.VBshooter wrote:Hell yeah ,, Nothing new there. Possible ..I'm sure you notice more and more how much he shows his lack of experience and lack of real leadership skill. You can't run the executive branch using the crap ideals you learned from some radical Asshol&$ and Bullshi& publications.. Approving all that junk is outragous. It's just gimme's for those Congressman's districts.. Amazing the balls and arrogance of those guys to actually push for that stuff. If we can take back Congress next year I feel it will effectively pull the teeth out the Obama administration,,Granted he'll still have some kick but without that majority he'll struggle for just about everything he goes after,The practice of Porking up bills and adding political cookies are two things that need to be stopped.

I made a statement similar to that in a college course I was taking in January. By the reaction you would have thought I was the anti-christ. I guess to the misguided souls in class with me I was.VBshooter wrote:Possible ..I'm sure you notice more and more how much he shows his lack of experience and lack of real leadership skill.

No Doubt ,,, Let;s face it,What got him elected was, 1) an unpopular presidency before him 2) Those misguided soles were blinded by idol envy and his snake oil charm sold the rest of it...Every time he whines on the tube or whatever he drops down just a little more to the thinking public's view ,, That group of misguided soles is getting smaller all the time, There is always going to hold outs but it is good to see folks speaking up instead of just saying BAHHHH and following the Judas goat through the gate to socialism.
