Re: What happens in Dearborn will not stay in Dearborn
Can someone please explain to me what the point is in having a group of people wear shirts and hold signs that have messages damning another group and stand outside their festival? Isn't being religious about having a loving relationship with your God and not inciting hate? I'm all for freedom of speech, but to have such messages and then cry to the police about thrown water bottles is a little babyish. I think both groups put a black eye on the benefits of why someone would want to be religious.
Except if you actually look at the website it looks anything but "independent". Think this story is slanted much?WND, formerly WorldNetDaily, can best be explained by its mission statement: “WND is an independent news company dedicated to uncompromising journalism, seeking truth and justice and revitalizing the role of the free press as a guardian of liberty. We remain faithful to the traditional and central role of a free press in a free society – as a light exposing wrongdoing, corruption and abuse of power.

Had some close friends that were arrested two years ago. Their crime--being Christians and daring to answer questions people asked them. After a trial they were found not guilty. Still it is a bad place...and a harbinger of things ahead if we dont' get a grip.

Yep...actually the ACLU was on their side amazingly. They were found not guilty, but still had to spend a night in jail. Dearborn is corrupt through and through. Between sharia law being used as de facto law and taquiyya (Islamic doctrine of lying to attain certain goals). There is no justice there.

Re: What happens in Dearborn will not stay in Dearborn
This video is shocking a disgusting. I hope those that were involved like those children in the video get prosecuted to the full extent of the law for Juveniles. I hope that those cops that were there and turned away when the violence started are prosecuted. I hope that the cops that were there that forced them to leave the festival were reprimanded. I hope that the adults in that mob get prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
I agree if you go into an area and smack a hornets nest you will be stung. However, we are supposed to have freedom of religion. Therefore those men should have been able to walk through that festival with no ill effects. According to that crowd of people that freedom of religion rule only applies to them.
My biggest fear is about the children. Those young minds have just been told that it is ok to harm some one for believing differently then them. Those juveniles will grow into adults who believe the same and we will have a bigger problem in 8 to 10 years.
I would like to know if/when there is any fall out from this. Either on the side of those men who were stoned, or on the side of the mob. I wanna know what the outcome is.
I will never let my children do such an abhorrent thing, I will teach them not to. I will however, teach them to defend themselves. I will not let them fall prey to those who think the law is only written for themselves.
I have a lot of hopes, but I am not holding my breath for change, I can only change what I have control over me and mine. This response is my opinion and if someone does not like it, well to be a little less delicate, they can f*&K off I don't care.

Freedom of religion only means that the government itself will not favor or hinder the practicing of any particular religion. It does not require its citizens to respect or acknowledge the practicing of religion that is not their own. I think that as long as the group was acting civil they should have been able to walk through the festival with no ill effects, but that's only because we have other laws on the books (assault, battery, etc). But were they acting civil? One highly emotional group baited another highly emotional group with derogatory shirts and signs and the other group took the bait. You make the call.TacticalMom wrote:I agree if you go into an area and smack a hornets nest you will be stung. However, we are supposed to have freedom of religion. So I guess the question is should laws like assault and battery still apply when one group baits another group? Kinda like the jackass at the bar who will taunt you and stick out his jaw and beg you to hit him but will cry to the cops when you throw the first punch.

I do not expect the mob to accept Christianity or even respect it. What was written on the signs, and or on their shirts, or even what was being said pissed them off but that is just it, its those group of 10 guys who were wearing the signs and shirts's opinions, and it pissed off the mob that is all. The mob could turn away and ignore it, those people who are holding the signs would walk through and get no attention and there would be no or less controversy. As it stands the mob now has put a black mark on themselves and their activities. Hell the signs and shirts could have said 'your mother is a whore, and I had her last night for 1 dollar'. It does not matter what the signs or shirts say. It might offend or make a person angry, but it does not in any way shape or form physically harm the mob, or make them fear for their lives/health. (it might hurt their feelings)
If I saw a group of hell lets just say Buddhists, that were walking through a public event, saying that all people who are not Buddhists are going to go to hell, and oh hey your mama is a whore. You know what I would do? (aside from being shocked that they were not following their doctrines) I would turn the f*&K away and leave them to their own devices. So long as they are not harming me, or threatening me and mine. I let them say what they want, when they want, how they want, and believe what they want.
As to the baiting question. I would like to think that I would continue to turn the other cheek. That being said I am human and cannot guarantee that I would. What they had on their signs and shirts did not and I believe would not constitute assault. They were not saying we are going to kill you. At best the signs were saying you will go to hell cause you believe in something we don't believe in. Guess what? If some one were to come up to me and say... if you don't believe that the Jim Hensen Muppets are the rulers of the universe, you are going to die a fiery death at the hands of Animal and Kermit if you don't convert to my religion. I would laugh and walk away from the crazy person. That is what those 10 guys protesting the event were doing. Telling a group of people that if they don't convert they will die a fiery death because the mob does not believe in Christianity. So I believe that the signs were not in any way assaulting them. Therefore there was not reason for battery.
Of course there is a point where if some one were to assault you, saying I am going to kill you, I am going to f8&k you up, and you tried to leave or get away from the individual to no avail, then you could use force if you felt your life was in danger.
I see in no way a mob of 200+ what ever they were (they could be muppet worshipers for all I care, the religion does not matter), were threatened to the point of having to retaliate with a stoning/pelting a group of what 10 guys with signs and shirts that did not agree with what they believed.
So in this case no assault on the mob that would cause fear of bodily harm from the protesters, so no cause for the escalation of battery by being pelted with garbage, rocks, concrete, bodily fluids, and milk crates. The mob in conclusion was wrong in their actions.

I'm on MGOF talking about this as well. I think all men are responsible for their own actions. That said the Christian group and video editor are clearly argumentative and are trying to accuse people to push their agenda.
I am a Christian and I whole heartily believe in preaching the Gospel in the den of deeds but you can't think if you go into a hornets nest, you wont be stung. ..remember, I also said every man is responsible for their actions.
I do think there is a problem in Dearborn (I'm from Royal Oak and just moved to Va.) but this video isn't a very good example of the issues.

I agree wholeheartedly with you Wolvee. I am a Christian, and I believe in turning the other cheek, I also believe in not provoking others.
I believe in this case any mention of religion outside of the mobs religion would have been provocation. Tensions are high between the two groups, so anything would have incite action, thought, and even anger. It was not the smartest thing those guys did, however , they have a right to do it peacefully.

I think it's a perfect example of the issue. The issue is that when Muslims are strong enough in numbers, they revert to violence against anyone they don't like.Wolvee wrote:I do think there is a problem in Dearborn (I'm from Royal Oak and just moved to Va.) but this video isn't a very good example of the issues.
I can understand the argument about the other group's actions, but I am disgusted by some people's somewhat justification of the violent mob. No violence was used against the Muslims, they had no right to use it and were in the greater wrong by far.

I get what you're saying but think of how any mobs act when they are heated with antagonists. (From either side) I don't think there is a difference between this group and others.TheGodfather wrote:I think it's a perfect example of the issue. I do think there is an inherent problem with the Muslim religion but this violence isn't much difference from other mobs. It's odd because I've know a few devout Muslim civilians in America and I've never had a negative experience but when I was in Iraq and Afghan I met an entirely different breed of Muslim. ..some good some bad. You mean like when the lovely folks from Westboro Baptist were protesting during military burials? They got the crap kicked out of them, right? No? By that logic the country of Turkey should be dropping bombs all over. Contrary to what the media portrays, not all Muslims come from suicide bombing terrorist camps.
You hear quite a bit about Christians protesting Muslims (Koran burning, NYC community center, etc), but this article got me thinking about Muslims protesting Christians at their
churches. My Google-fu skills are pretty sharp, but I couldn't find any relevant stories.

Then check out the country of Egypt....except usually the Muslims there don't just protest the church...usually they burn it down while they are at it.
