AK/AR pistol CC

Post by gunnermax »

I have searched, but not found anything. I know about the CC and OC laws in VA. I am a CHP holder. My only question is this:

Are AK and AR pistols considered handguns in the law of the Commonwealth? I would like a Draco AK with 30 round mag underneath a jacket, or an AR pistol the same way. Since the pistols are not made to accept a stock, they are not considered rifles. Can you conceal them legally?

(start rant on my obnoxiousness)

AK & AR pistols are classified by ATF as handguns, so no problem with CC. However, magazine capacity is an issue under Virginia law except as noted in COV 18.2-287.4

thanks. I have my CHP so mag size is not an issue.

This opens up many ideas. Better done in winter though

Have you tried to actually use that firearm? They are difficult to shoot accurately and aren't light to carry. A real PDW like an FN P-90 or H&K MP7 would be a much better choice for professional use.
