I was reading the Arlington county clerk's website, and it says that my application needs to be notarized. Do I need to stop by a public notary before heading over there, or is that something that they do there?

I can't say about Arlington, but I had mine notarized for $5 at the copy business across from my house. Might just save you a trip back to the Clerk's office.

I had mine done at the clerk's office (Madison County). Could try the clerk's office, if they won't do it I'm sure there would be a Notary close by.

I have all my Notary work done at my Bank (Bank of Charlotte County) if you have a account with them they don't charge anything. Check with your bank.

#9 is referring to my certificate of the chp class right? And the instructor said I can get the fingerprint card at the courthouse..

Yes, #9 is a photo copy of the certificate from your CHP class, that's the same as competency with a handgun. All the applications have to notarized, it's just a question of whether your county clerk will do it or will it have to be done beforehand. You can always go somewhere and have it done, my clerk did it for me. It varies as to whether they will or not I guess.

Can't help you with a fingerprint card, I didn't have to do that. It varies from county to county as to whether you will be fingerprinted or not.

Not sure which part of the Richmond area you are from, but In henrico, you have you get your fingerprints done at the public safety building on parham/shrader, then bring that card down to the courthouse with your application. I got mine done and the lady doing them said they just got the machine back from the vendor because it was broken for 3 weeks. Apparently, as of last week, it was broken again. Not sure how they handle that.

Kinkos should be fine. I actually took my CHP class online and brought my printed certificate from the website in. No problems.

Having the CHP app notarized is not an Arlington requirement. The VASP app clearly shows a space for a notary.
