Training AAR - Concealed Carry for Self Defense

Post by Kuda »

Hey All-
I just wanted to share a quick after action report on John Murphy's Concealed Carry for Self Defense course I took over the weekend in Culpeper. Here is the website: http://www.fpftraining.com/. First off, the course is a mere $250 for two days of training. John is a stand-up guy, no B.S., and does not pretend he is somebody that he is not. The range was conveniently located, but I do not suggest you drive a sports car to it! Although a sedan will make it, you are better off in a higher riding vehicle. The classes are kept to about 12 students. This allowed for more hands on with each student and to me, a better learning environment. The classroom discussion was real interesting. John definitely goes beyond learning to shoot, but really improves your mindset, situational awareness, and overall comfort. I am a bad shot, but have great situational awareness. I walked out of there a better shot, but was shocked what I learned about awareness and mindset. I highly suggest this class. He has a great personality. He is very knowledgeable. If he doesn't know an answer, he will tell you and get back to you. We had three women in the class (beginners to intermediate skills), which impressed me. We also had active duty, disabled, and reserve armed forces folks, along with people who did not own a gun to folks who could run a gun store out of their house. Everyone was catered to (he was able to due to his no more than 12 class size) and besides me and a friend, everyone seemed to have enjoyed it.

Just wanted to share my experience with FPF.

I'm glad to hear there is another training opportunity that actually includes shooting - too few of these IMO.
Competition is one of the "great levelers" of ego.
