Health care bill ,,
If you value your money and your freedom of choice ,get a letter off to your Congressman today!!!!! The House is trying to shove a mandatory plan down our throats, HTis would give you no recourse but to pay or be fined,, THat is not America as I know it,This is another attempt by Obammy and Pelosi et al: overload the system so noone knows what POS to pay attention to, If you want to use it I ,have written a letter to my congressman ,, Feel free to use it,embelish it.or whatever you feel it needs but please just send it,,,
Dear Congressman xxxx, I read where the house has a health care plan ready to be presented today. One of the most disturbing things about that is the mandatory requirement that all citizens have to purchase a low cost? health plan. THIS is still America, we have the freedom of choice here and always have,For the non working dead wood this plan would have no impact as the current administration will just pay the way for them, assuring a better voter base in the future, For working families that expense could be the last one that pushes them over the brink into financial collapse, I object strongly to this requirement and urge you to not support any plan that has a mandatory provision, This is not something to be rushed into , no matter how much the President or Speaker want it, It's We THe People who will bear the harsdships of this misdirected type of legislation, , not them.Their benefits are already paid for by us the Taxpayer, And I am sure they are much better than the product they are offering us. SincerelyXXXXXXXXX

I was watching CNN the other day and it came up that one of the ways to pay for health care is tax sugary drinks. Now I'm a Pepsi-holic and after the tax it will be cheaper for me to drink beer. Until they tax that out of my reach, like they are doing with cigarettes. We're about to get taxed to death.

We need to contact Congressmen and Senators over this people. MSNBC just posted an article, about 30 minutes before I posted this, that give more insight. You can read the article here.
It's not just about taxes. The plan the House is considering will be paid for by employers, medical providers, and taxes on the "rich". In other words, if you don't fall into the category that gets taxed you WILL still fall into the category paying higher prices for manufactured goods (employers aren't going to take a loss) and paying more for medical care. Insurance companies will not be able to deny coverage, people that were previously considered insurance risks will have to be covered so premiums will go up to cover the losses. Medicare and Medicaid payments will be slowed in an effort to force people into a plan run by the federal government. And finally YOU WILL HAVE NO CHOICE but to get insurance whether you want it or not or face penalties/fines.

Great letter VB!!!!
Must have read my mind. This one was next up on my list. Your letter is spot on.
Everybody needs to jump on this one. Its also not too late to send one for Cap and Trade and Sotomayor. See other threads in this forum for letters on those. Also, please dont forget about CIFTA. Just because its not in the news doesnt mean its not a problem. There is also a letter for that one too.
By the way - the notion of having mandatory anything like this or facing a penalty IMO is indeed anti-American and borders on controls seen in socialist and communist countries.

Get ready to grab your ankles if this thing takes off..Now the Senate committee is aiming at us with a mandatory health care plan,, THis needs to be stopped . I am tired of these so called reprecentatives doing just what the hell they want to do and screwing us,,, Of course its a bunch of Buttholes from California pushing this thing the hardest ,Their state is broke and it would get them off the hook,,CONTACT THE SENATORS NOW AND OFTEN, This crap has to stop!!! I rewrote the above letter for the Senators, Use it at your leisure..
Dear SenatorXXXXXx, I read where the house has a health care plan they have submitted for review. I am sick and tired of this reckless legislation just to appease the President so he can say he made good on a campaign promise. It has become very apparent that more and more WE THE PEOPLE don't count, Only party priorities do.This is a trend that has to stop. Continuation of these actions will only serve to push us further towards socialism and destroy what country we have left. I urge you in the strongest possible terms to oppose any mandatory health care and urge the Senate to create a workable plan that will actually work.Look into cutting all the waste and handouts that exist and you could probably pay for it and fix Social Security too. Sincerely,XXXXXX

Where in the Constitution does it say we all get health care provided for and regulated by the same people who gave us the Post Office, Amtrack, and most recently, the New GM!
This will be the second time in 5 years that the government will have legislated my job out from under me.

People, we need to listen to James Madison-
"I cannot undertake to lay my finger on that article of the Constitution which granted a right to Congress of expending, on objects of benevolence, the money of their constituents...." --James Madison
and
"If Congress can do whatever in their discretion can be done by money, and will promote the General Welfare, the Government is no longer a limited one, possessing enumerated powers, but an indefinite one, subject to particular exceptions." --James Madison
and
"Thus, each of the principal branches of the federal government will owe its existence more or less to the favor of the State governments, and must consequently feel a dependence, which is much more likely to beget a disposition too obsequious than too overbearing towards them." --
Madison, Federalist No. 45
and most importantly
"Enlightened statesmen will not always be at the helm." -- James Madison, Federalist No. 10
The man was a visionary (like we didn't already know that), think he could see the future?

Fellow citizens I said it for Cap and Trade and I will say it for this one too - YOUR SILENCE IS AS GOOD AS CONSENT to this nonsense. Please join me, VB, and others in exercising our 1st Amendment right. No, I'm not talking about freedom of speech. I'm talking about our right to address grievances to the government. Take 5 minutes and send Spence's letter to your congressman and both senators - NOW before its too late.

Re: Health care bill ,,
Our illustrious congress will no doubt move this bill to the floor for a vote soon. If you haven't done so already please send Spence's letter (above) or one of your own to our legislators today. America simply cannot allow this bill the way it is written. I took some time today and browsed through 1018 pages of crap that IMO will indeed sink America.

News I heard today is that the House is close to voting but it's bogged down in the Senate. I also saw an interesting article about how the administration defines bi-lateral. It's not based on how well something is supported by both parties anymore, now it means that ideas or ammendments put forth by the other party have been incorporated into the bill. Whatever it takes to look good, right?

Here's a copy of my letter to congress and senators. If you disagree with the proposed health bill please join us and send them a letter. Let them know how you feel. Hey, if you agree with it send them a letter too. However you might feel, please exercise your 1st Amendment right - no not freedom of speech - 1st Amendment also grants us the right to address grievances to the government.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear Senator Warner,
I am writing to express my concern about the proposed health care legislation currently being discussed by members of congress.
First of all I do not support our government forcing American citizens to purchase any product or face penalties. This is anathema to everything America stands for and a direct assault upon our freedom of choice.
Second, in case you have not been paying attention, our country is on the brink of bankruptcy. Small businesses are being forced to lay off workers, we are facing a national average of 10% unemployment, our economy is near ruin, and we are facing an unprecedented national deficit. I cannot honestly believe that anyone truly feels that America can afford another $1.5 trillion bill that WE the people will be forced to pay.
Third, I took a couple of hours out of my busy schedule to “read” the 1018 page bill. The ONLY thing good that I saw was a clause forbidding federal benefits to be paid to “illegal aliens” – words directly from the bill – not mine. Regarding the length and complexity of the bill I have to openly wonder if anyone, especially legislators, have read or even understand the full implications. DO YOU? For the sake of America I ask that you be critically honest with yourself about this question.
Fourth, it has been clearly stated by economists and the CBO that this bill will ultimately cost much more than the advertised price tag, will most likely NOT provide the promised care, force private industry health care insurers out of business, and levy unprecedented taxes on the already over taxed American citizen.
I urge you to closely examine the proposed legislation and consider alternatives. The problem is clear – the current cost of health care is simply too high. The answer: regulation. A government give away of health care insurance will only serve to further line the pockets of the health care industry with OUR MONEY. And I remind you, that the money I speak of belongs to WE THE PEOPLE.
Sincerely,

Re: Health care bill ,,
I don't always post on here when I write my congressmen, my letters are often full of personal information and observations - and the last one was pretty demanding... I quit mincing words and get straight to the point - I basically told them if they weren't part of the answer, they are part of the problem, and with their congressional approval rating - they would have lots of times to read my emails after they found themselves out of a job, since they obviously aren't reading them based on the generic replies that I'm receiving back.
Just for fun, here's an interesting look at gov't healthcare - in Canada.

I told them a while back that they need to start listening to what people say, that they were elected to vote the way their constiuents indicate they should and not they way they want to. Also told them their canned responses didn't cut it and that loosing their elected office was a real possibility if they didn't consider changing. I got a canned response thanking me for my letter.

Jason - thanks! The only reason I post what I write is so others can copy if they like and try to drum up interest and participation. The important thing is that you write them. I've also sent a couple of nasty grams. Funny how those never elicit a response other than an automatic acknowledge from the server.

It;s on the way DK.. We need to watch these 2 closely in the next few weeks , Hopefully they won't get the summer vacation itch and vote for something they don;t read or give a damn about just to get it done,.And Jason =, Don;t change a thing,, Nail em every chance you get! I feel that's what it's gonna take to get the point across that we're awake and we know what they're doing.

Way to go, Spence. From the news I'm reading the health care bill isnt quite as popular as it was a few days ago and obama is feeling the heat. I'm sure he's going to pull a dirty trick or two to try and get it through.

Re: Health care bill ,,
Give this little jewel a read and then fire a letter , call, email , or general streak of curses off to the idiots,,,In an effort to gain support for their half assed plan ,the democrats want to offer Health Care to ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS,That we will have to pay for by working!!Now we all know that is just to get support from the Latino voters who are legal, There is no way illegals should be eligible for anything other than a ride back to where they came from,
This goodie grab bag logic is the very thing we need to put an end to!!!!!!!! I posted the one I sent to the Congress as thats where the bill is as of Friday,,,
Dear Congressman XXXX, I read with anger that the House Ways and Means comittee has rejected the Heller Amendment that would ban approxamatley 12 million illegal aliens from receiving government paid health care.It is increasingly alarming how there is still no bipartisanship in the creation of these plans. In no way should illegals be eligible for any government paid benefits,, This strikes me as a Democratic attempt to win favor with minority voters ,,I object strongly to any pay out of benefits to a group that shuns our laws , takes away from working Americans, and further pushes the nation into debt we cannot maintain.I have said in the past and will repeat , Take the time and do it right. The President, The Speaker and The Health Care Industry in general can cool their heels and stop rushing this as you will only get one shot to do it right,
Sincerely , xxxxxxx
