Cove campout shootout april 14-15

Post by joeshmo »

Hello all- I have this posted up on another forum VAGT and wanted to post it on this fine website VGOF as well. The reservations and dates are set and I am the one orgainzing the event. All are welcome. I think it would end up being a fun event for all members. The event would start at 9am sat till sunday??-

Meetup at the cove campground in gore Va for a few days of fun RESERVATIONS HAVE BEEN MADE.. It is 12 miles west of Winchester and is 3,000 acres. They have a shooting range, 30 miles of atv/dirtbike trails (very rocky), 20 miles of jeep trails, 3 stocked lakes and functional bathrooms (for the wives or GF's). The fields they rent out are not so much family orientated ( people have huge partys all night long kids welcome but bring at your own risk, dogs welcome as well) big old camp-out, some sort of shooting competition, a big old potluck dinner and a massive bon fire VAGT style! The fee is only 15 bucks a day ( pay at the office) and they have a few huge fields to party it up. Seems like a fun thing to do for a meetup. Kinda far for some but every year I go it is always a blast!! The ppl who own the place are really cool. BYOB and plenty of it, closest store is miles away. .. The shooting range is very primitive but there is no limit as to what you can shoot there. Here are a few links if interested--

http://www.motocove.com/

http://www.bigdogsoffroad.com/html/trail_rides.html ---- they do all the jeep trails due to the danger of the higher levels.

Just figured if something could be set up now and knock out a date so everyone could prepare we could have a somewhat of a organized fun event. I would be willing to pay for the initial site fee ( as long as hundreds dont show up and over 10 sites are not needed). Each "site" is 30 bucks and can accommodate 6 tents although it is a huge field. The 20 bucks a day would be solely on anyone who shows up. But I would need to figure out how many ppl would be interested. Set the date at april 14-15 warm during the day and comfortably cold at night ( im sure not too many ppl will be bothered by the cold once the evening wears on and a few fires are going).

Count me in! I have not been camping/shooting for far too long. And I am bringing most of my NFA toys. Wife may or may not join me. I'd be happy to set up and run and score an IPSC type stage that can be shot with pistol/carbine/subgun.

We are gonna need some Tannerite also!

All this assumes a dry weekend btw. If its gonna rain, I be staying home.

Ohhhh, speaking of Tannerite... I picked some up at Gander Mtn this weekend. I set off a single 1/2 lb charge for the first time today.... that is some cool $#!* right there!

I'd really like to go to this...
