Chantilly show today
Chantilly show today
Anyone go? Thank god I bought a weekend pass on firday night, the line was a few hundred deep this morning and the place was so packed you could hardly move or breath! Never seen it so busy and have been to the last 10 shows. Not sure if it is the time of the year but it was insanity!! Anyone find some good deals? I was able to pick up another slide fire for $250...

I went this morning. It was very busy when I arrived, with the line running out and around the corner into the side parking lot. I've never seen one quite that busy. Inside it was crowded, as you said. I was, however, able to make this my best visit to the show yet, getting pretty much everything I needed to get (forgot the can of Balistol). Talking to a couple shop keepers there, I heard that a couple the ammo places had actually sold out by the end of Friday and even early Saturday morning. One fellow told me that over 700 people came at the very start of the day. I noticed a wide variety of people with different interests were there, which to me shows that firearms and firearms rights advocacy have come a long way. It's crowded and that can be a pain, but the plus side is that it shows people are being engaged and enjoying it.

I got there at 2:30 and the line was pretty long. Figured it would close before I got in! Gonna try tomorrow.

Watched one guy buy 20 casses of 5.56 on friday night!! Ammo seemed to be a big seller. From what I heard the delays to purchase were horrible. Goes to show firearm ownership is becoming more mainstream (hopefully). In the last 10 years I have been going by far this was the busiest show I have seen to date. Seems like they need to look for a larger space to have the show if any exist in the nova area and extend the hours.
Re: Chantilly show today
I went with a friend before they opened on Friday, in time to find parking and wait 30 minutes before the doors opened. Luckily they allow you to buy your tickets beforehand, so we passed the time in line chatting with others and exchanging ideas. The Friday show was as crowded as a normal Saturday show, but we were able to pick up the items we wanted. I returned with my sons on Saturday, and that was the most crowded I have EVER seen that show! Parking spilled over into the surrounding areas. The line to enter was longer than usual. Once inside, we had a hard time moving in the aisles, much less actually looking at items my sons were hoping to buy. We gave up after an hour or so and left. I was impressed at the number of folks there, and at the general politeness and good cheer they demonstrated, as well. I go to gun shows mostly for fun and to save delivery charges on ammo, so I will continue to go to Chantilly, I guess. But I'm sure gonna plan ahead and do my shopping as early as possible from now on.

Typically Friday night is slower, but when I arrived @ 3:30 the line was also out the door all the way down the lot. Once I finally got it, it was the most crowded I've ever seen it. In talking with a lot of the folks, it seems like it's a reaction to the possibility that the current regime will remain and 2A rights will dwindle.
I was specifically there to hunt for a S&W 625-4 but couldn't find any. One of the vendors said they had one but sold it before I got there!!! bummer!!
Anyway, I was going to pick up some ammo but decided against it. I did pick up some pmags, and a Vortex PST!!! I was happy with the purchase!

Ya, got there at 1100 on Saturday..it was freezing and the line was rapping around the side.
I was going to get the Saiga 12 there, but my License still showed my old address so I couldn't
But I did get 1,000 rnds of .223 and a mag for my AUG, so I did leave with something.

I went on Sunday for the first time. Holy. Mackerel. I had no idea I would have to fight through swarms of hunters and military personnel to look at the guns displayed on tables. I guess I should've known better.
Thank goodness I'm tall; if not, I would've just turned around and walked out. After paying $12.

Historically it has not been that bad, for some reason things have gotten crazy over the last six weeks or so. Things usually calm down come summer, unless people are still spending money on guns and ammo way above normal...Katyusha wrote:I went on Sunday for the first time. Holy. Mackerel. Glad I didn't go, though I really missed going.
