Why carry a gun?

Post by jbw59 »

That's the question one of my friends asked me. Why do you need to carry a gun all the time. "This is Charlottesville. It's safe here." He said he could understand if we lived in Richmond or N.Va. but here in Charlottesville?

Less than 24 hours later, there was an armed robbery at 1:30 in the afternoon in a parking lot. He hadn't seen the news story, so when I met with him later that day, I just asked him to read the news rather than go for an "I told you so." He's a nice guy but far left politically. I'm making some headway though. He's getting on board with the second amendment. He wasn't for it two years ago.

Sometimes you have to lead that horse to water more than once to get him to drink. :clapping:

"Why are you carrying a pistol? Are you expecting trouble?"
"If I were expecting trouble I'd be carrying my rifle."

Happiness is a WORN gun.

Four boxes to be used in defense of liberty: soap, ballot, jury, ammo - use in that order.
If you aren't part of the solution, then you obviously weren't properly dissolved.

My wife was a liberal when I met her, she now realizes that she really was conservative all along. Sometimes it takes a reality check for people to come around, mine was when my wife stumbled in on a break in at her church a few years back while she was alone. Luckily the intruders just fled.

If I happen to need my gun while I'm out on the town, what good is it to me if I've left it at home?

A funny story:

I was at a wedding one time, and they completely forgot the lighter for the candles. I whipped out mine, and they look astonished because I have never smoked. So when asked, I said "I carry a lighter to light candles for the unprepared."

The best/worst thing about being prepared (even if you weren't a Boy Scout), You end up looking like "BATMAN" (or "fatman" considering how much I ate during the holidays).... And you never realize how much you need those things, until you REALLY need those things.

Funny you should mention Cville, didn't know we had more than two gun owners here :hysterical:

Reminds me of when I was out to dinner with my girl and her left-wing friends. So anyway, they were sitting there, talking about gun "fanatics" and how they were just trying to start fights so they could shoot someone.

I waited patiently for them to finish their ignorant conversation, then chimed in:

"I have a concealed carry permit, and carry my weapon everywhere I go. In fact, I have it with me right now."

"............"

"What, surprised I haven't shot the place up yet?"

"............."

I paid the tab, (Including theirs) and we left. I've yet to be invited back to dinner, which I figure is no big loss. Honestly, I think it makes people uncomfortable when gun owners don't fit into our stereotype.

Hope that it didn't show up on the bill when they had to stick their collective foot in their collective mouth. But, then, I suppose the reaction may have been worth it, lol.

Nicely done Alex!

Yes, it's VERY quieting when Anti-gunners run their big mouths, and then get proven wrong right to their face in public...

Like icing on the cake of logic.

Why not? If I was walking down the street with 3 (or more) of you (socially), I wouldn't need to.

We would take turns carrying (sorta like the designated driver rule). :hysterical:

Why carry a gun?

Because it's a lot easier than carrying a cop with me wherever I go.

Sometimes you even have to "brick" him.
