Possibly relocating to VA

Post by joemac »

What's good in VA gentlemen.

My name is Joe and I'm a MD resident right now. I live directly across the Potomac from the Northern Neck. I'm getting sick and tired of all the rules and regulations in MD and am thinking about jumping ship to a more free state. I'd like to be able to ccw too. When my wife and I visit VA everyone seems so friendly and strangers actually speak. We aren't used to that over here. I have found some cheap land not far south of Farmville. I'd have to build on it though. Looking to start a small agriculture production operation. Are any of you from that neck of the woods? I am trying to get a feel for the area.

I'm a hunter and trapper and don't have a large firearm collection but I grow it when I can.

We do have members out that way. I'm sure they'll chime in shortly.

Farmville area is nice. That whole area generally in between the far west suburbs of Richmond (where I live) and Charlottesville area has lots of really pretty countryside and relatively inexpensive real estate.

Definitely are worse places to live.

Much of MD comes to mind. Particularly when it comes to gun ownership.

Bumping my very old thread. We ended up with 20acres in Halifax off of Swain Rd. Anybody live out that way? Hope to break ground this month or next and move out full time before Summer.

On a side note, what do I need to do to establish my Virginia residency? Can I just use my address or does there actually have to be a structure on the property? Thanks guys.
