Election Day Today

Post by VBshooter »

I'm sure all that intend to vote are aware of what today is. But for those that aren't , Today is General Election Day in VA and we need all gun rights supporters to come out and help take the Senate back from the Democrat majority that has been smothering good gun legislation too long..............

Already voted. AGAINST an incumbent Senator who is a personal friend but did not answer the VCDL questionaire, or the NAM questionaire, or the Right To Work people's questionaire. Hated to vote against him because he has been receptive to my concerns in the past, but as the OP said, there is more at stake here than any one Senate seat.

Hit my neighborhood polling place at about a quarter past the crack of dawn this morning. The turnout was pretty light, but it was early.

I can't wait until next year!

One hopes the gains we make will produce the results we desire.

However, My faith is gone in the system, but it's the only one we've got currently.

Just hold your nose if necessary and don't vote for any democrats other than the sole house candidate VCDL endorsed.

I was at the polling station at 0620 walked right in to vote. I asked if it had been lite in voters this morning and they said that I had missed the rush as they had about 40 waiting at 0600 to vote.

Voted just now. And, as my polling place is in a building that is not otherwise restricted, I voted the 2A way - protected!

I went around 10 AM.. A few ahead of me.. others coming in as I left.. One of my candidates was unchallenged and the others challenger didn;t stand a chance in hell.. We'll know more this evening....There are several Dems I pray are handed their ass in sound defeats.... And we as gun owners get to take credit for their loss!!!

I voted at 1500 and had to wait in line for 15 minutes.
Poll worker said the line had been steady all day.'
Glad to see a good turnout.

My first election in VA, very different experience from NY.

Many races were unopposed (never happens in NY-you can get rich as dog catcher so every seat is a fight to the death), signs were right outside the building (not allowed in NY), and I was solicited outside the building with a "sample ballot" that was conveniently all Republican (also not allowed in NY), and I voted on a computer (we still have the levers in NY last time I voted in 2010).

Also let me say the districting here is confusing as all hell.

However, VCDL endorsed both incumbents, so that was easy. Am still just amazed at all the unopposed...wow!

In VA as I suppose it is in most places in the U.S. voting is a disgrace. Districts are so gerrymandered and so much money is required until most districts are non-competitive. Consequently candidates no longer have to compromise on anything as the foundation of our society requires. They can instead sit in their district and basically ignore most issues and governing while emphasizing ideology.

As for us voters I would be truly surprised if 60% of eligible voters turned out to vote. I voted about an hour before the poll closed. The turnout at that point in my precinct was about 26%.

America's dirty little secret is that incumbents don't want people to vote. That's why States are going to spend millions next year with voter ID laws that fix a none-existent problem, voter fraud. It's why we vote on a workday as opposed to a weekend, and why we go through all the crap about registration time limits and all.

James Madison's worse fears have been realized because we are now a country of little autonomous "factions".

A lof of those uncontested races are for county offices. Most counties here are still controlled by machines (not necessarily of political parties, either), so outsiders have a very limited chances of breaking in. It's all rather incestuous.

The one thing I DO know about Virginians? We do not like "lopsided" guv'mint. We like balance, even in the face of opposition. (shrugs) We've seen what happens when one side gets uneven.

Again, we're living in strange times. I am with Kreutz in that I wish there were MORE challengers! I hate seeing a ballot with more than HALF running without opposition. Even if I like the person in office, I want them to WORK for it!

Yeah. I too would like to see them work for the position... As it stands ,last news I listened to, the Republicans took over the Senate but only by lke 89 votes or thereabouts,, There's going to be a recount in that race most definitely... One sad thing is many of the trouble causing Dems have gotten another term to ply their BS ways and agenda...I truly wanted to see them booted out but it was not to be,,Damn It!!

Same ole' faces, same ole games.

What will change? When REGULAR folks start running. I have a "graveyard" in my closet, but even I HAVE considered running just to give them a challenge.

(shrugs) We'll figure it out in the end. If Bill Bolling is the "tie-breaker" in the Senate, we're gonna be having some interesting Senate sessions!

Was it me or did this year they removed all party marking from the ballet. I heard several people complain about that and late voter cards or no voter cards.
