For those of you in the Spotsylvania area who currently have Ed Houck as your state Senator, just a couple of reminders about his voting record and position on two items of interest:
1. He led the effort for Circuit Court Clerks to RELEASE YOUR PRIVATE CHP INFORMATION to anyone who wants it using a Freedom of Information Act request - a good way to get a CHP holder killed. He fought VCDL's efforts to fix that law every step of the way over the last few years. I'm not so sure his position isn't driven by the Freelance-Star newspaper, which is in his district. They were one of the worst offenders about publishing lists of CHP holders in their paper. They haven't done so in a while, but there's nothing stopping them from starting again any time they want.
2. He has come out AGAINST campus carry in the paper a few days ago. I'm not sure what part of Virginia Tech in 2007 Senator Houck missed, but there it is.
If you live in his district, you might want to call Senator Houck and ask him to 1) stop Circuit Court Clerks from releasing CHP holder information and 2) protect universities and colleges by supporting campus carry for CHP holders.
With elections tomorrow, you need to do this TODAY. His phone number in the district is: 540-786-2782. Friends and family calling him might now hurt either.
At the same time, you might want to thank his opponent, Bryce Reeves, for supporting campus carry in that same article. His number is: (540) 891-5473
Here is the article in the Freelance-Star where campus carry is discussed:

The candidates also differed on whether people on college campuses should be allowed to carry guns.
Reeves said he has a concealed-carry permit and is in favor of allowing guns on campus. Houck said he opposes that, and supports the current law allowing colleges to make their own rules on the issue.

Re: VA-ALERT: Senator Houck - A voting record reminder
According to the news? He lost, but by the skin of his teeth, I suspect a recall.
