And I have to say everyone was very helpful, from the people at the Sherrif's office, to the circuit clerk etc.
I was suspecting i might meet a bit of bureacratic disapproval, but from catching the box i missed on the application to just being generally polite, it was a breeze, heck i almost felt they supported me exercising my right.
The nice woman at the clerk's office stated they do have 45 days to respond, but most times unless there is a problem they get it done, approved and mailed out well before that (she said about 3 weeks).
Now poor Phreakdrive has to go file hers in Fairfax, and looking at their procedure it is defintely not as easy (3 copies, extra proof of residency past license etc)
So I filed for the CHP in Loudoun today

Makes you prefer living in Loudoun, eh?
Re: So I filed for the CHP in Loudoun today
Most assuredly : )
the only hassle with Loudoun I guess is since you have to pick up your own back ground check you need to go two places and you have to file the same day you pick up the background check (I guess to prevent people from altering it); but honestly that seems like less hassle than multiple copies and the fact the sheriffs provide a notary, makes it actually seem like they are encouraging you. I will probably end up going with Phreak Drive when she does all her filing so I will post a comparison.

Hold the Clerk to what the law says that you need to provide, and nothing more.Riposite wrote:Now poor Phreakdrive has to go file hers in Fairfax, and looking at their procedure it is defintely not as easy (3 copies, extra proof of residency past license etc)

The entire process, even getting into the courthouse, is so . . . calm. Those folks in Loudoun know what they are doing!
