If this passes the House, it then must pass the Senate. We all know OBOOBA will sign it. A couple of Trillion Tax increase. Who is going to pay this? US! CAP AND TRADE should be called TAX and RECESSION.

Say hello to 6 dollar a gallon gasoline folks.

It's the same as everything else, politicians tell the rosy side of anything they want and the negative side of anything they do not want. How many times have you seen the energy hog commercial pushing CFL's? They tell everything about how they can save energy but NOTHING about how to dispose of them- they do contain heavy metals so you can't just through them away.

I see my congressman is already against it, he's the one quoted in the last paragraph.

1200 pages, no one has read it all. And 5 hours of debate 5 minutes per member of the house. WHEN ARE THE AMERICAN PEOPLE GOING TO PUT A STOP TO THIS? :piggy: :piggy: :piggy: :piggy: :piggy: :witchhunt: :witchhunt: :witchhunt: :witchhunt: :witchhunt: :witchhunt: :unclesam: :unclesam: :unclesam: :unclesam: :unclesam:

Looking into this further I have found a couple other articles one it.

This one is basically an expanded version of what VBShooter posted-
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/31547270/ns ... vironment/

This one has information that really pisses me off, appearantly we could end up paying other countries to not cut their trees,,WTF??? Is this what was meant by "spread the wealth?"
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/31552665/ns ... vironment/

And this one tells you the estimated cost for us-
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/31494770/ns ... vironment/

So let me get this straight- the "Making work pay" thing supposedly cut most of our taxes by $15.00 per week, that means we should now have $780.00 more in our pocket each year. But wait, if you smoke (I did) 1/3 of that is taken back in the form of a $.62 per pack federal tax increase (.62 X 365 packs = $226.30). Now the CBO estimates that this cap and trade crap will increase the average energy cost per household by $175.00 per year. We're up to $401.00 between the two. To pay for health insurance of a portion of our society Congress is considering taxing employer paid health benefits, something which could easily add $5,000 to $10,000 of taxable income to many individuals income at an estimated cost of $317 to $635 per year. Now we're up to at least $718, so much for the $780 tax cut.

Saw earlier today that it had passed the vote in the House. Hopefully the Senate will stop it, seems they were concerned about a filibuster there. I don't have much faith the Senate will stop it though.

I'd keep reading but it all makes me sick... :ill: I hope folks remember this on election day when some of these folks are up for re-election....

Reminds me of a quote:

"The great thing about democracy is that it gives every voter a chance to do something stupid" - Art Spander....

Too bad most of them don't understand the consequences of those actions.

The Senate's not going to stop it. Just my opinion. I would love to see a filibuster on this one. Those things are actually pretty cool. You can talk about literally any subject. I've heard stories where senators actually spent hours reading recipes from a cookbook. Strom Thurman was a master. He would spend an hour or more in the steam room to dehydrate himself (so he wouldn't have to use the restroom). He had one of his staff put a bucket outside the door in case he couldn't wait to go.

The problem with that is that too many who voted for this administration aren't affected by this. The cost of it doesn't come out of their pocket, it comes out of ours.

No argument there. I just hope with congressional approval rates so low that some people will wake up. Of course, I thought that after the messiah was in power, people might take note, but I was wrong there, too. I think Bobtail1911 said it in another thread, we haven't fallen far enough or felt the pain long enough...

Sadly I have to agree. The only question is how much farther? What's next?

The next step is to get the Senate to stop this.

Do not think that the American people have not noticed.

50 percent said no when they called the House of Representatives and 50 percent said "Hell No!"

These bills are full of payoff to special interests, not to mention that it will raise the cost of everything. :witchhunt:

Fellow Gun Owners and Citizens: Please call (dont e-mail!!) both of our senators this Monday and provide your opinion of this proposed legislation.

For Senator Warner browse to: http://warner.senate.gov/public/index.cfm?p=Contact
Scroll to the bottom of the page where you can select the district office. Call all of them!!!

For Senator Webb browse to: http://webb.senate.gov/contact/
There are several numbers for district offices along the right hand column. Call them all!!!

Looks like a party line vote, except for Nye. It's not what "we the people" want, it's what they the government want.

"If Congress can do whatever in their discretion can be done by money, and will promote the General Welfare, the Government is no longer a limited one, possessing enumerated powers, but an indefinite one, subject to particular exceptions." --James Madison

Nye has actually been pretty good about his votes for the people,, For a Junior Congressman he has some balls... The others are servants of the party and I am afraid our 2 Senators are going to fall in step with the 'Party" too. This is scary stuff when the constiuent is set aside and ignored for the party,, This country had better wake up or we;re history,,,
