First Purchase Question
Hey guys, I've been trying to find an answer to a question for some time now and have found a few conflicting answers.
I was wondering if anyone knew what I would need in order to purchase an Arsenal SGL21 or SGL31 rifle.
The part I'm confused on is that the 21 comes with a 5 round mag and the 31 comes with a 10 round mag. Shouldn't that disqualify them from assault weapon status as they do not have folding stocks and are not designed to accommodate silencers?

Re: First Purchase Question
No, they have bayonet mounts and the barrels are threaded. Do you have a voter registration card? That proves citizenship. Yes, it's dumb, but you aren't waiting a week like the folks in Maryland have to.

So does that mean that you just don't vote? For anyone?SterlingMedal wrote:No voter's card...I refuse to vote for liars.

No. It just means I haven't thought there has been anyone honest enough to vote for. I plan on voting in the next election...missed deadline to register last time....ProShooter wrote:So does that mean that you just don't vote? I Hate voting for the lesser of two evils, as it turns out to be most of the time...bt if I don't and the most evil one wins, then I have no one to blame but myself.
Good luck with your gun purchase!

Hey guys, reusing my post to ask another question.
I know this is the wrong section for this but.... Which rifle would be a better investment, an AK-47 or an AK-74 style rifle?

AK 74 ammo is cheaper right now, a 1080 Round Case $169(atlanticfirearms).SterlingMedal wrote:Hey guys, reusing my post to ask another question.

Re: First Purchase Question
The silencer accomodation thing is open to interpretation (at least, I'm not aware of any official guidance or court cases on it), but if it's got a fixed stock and no 20+ round mag, it's good to go on those counts.SterlingMedal wrote:The part I'm confused on is that the 21 comes with a 5 round mag and the 31 comes with a 10 round mag. However, there's a lot of FUD among dealers about what constitutes an "assault weapon" in Virginia, so if it's black and/or scary-looking most will require the citizenship proof anyway.
As for better investment, who knows? If you want to keep shooting it, I'd lean towards 7.62, since there's some domestic production of that. 5.45 is almost all foreign milsurp, and once that dries up, it'll cost about the same as 5.56, with the added bonus of being more susceptible to import bans.

Thats not good at all... You not voting means that you have no say in what is going to happen, which also means that you can't complain when someone does something you don't like, because you don't care enough to vote

Re: First Purchase Question
It doesn't matter whether it's an "assault weapon" unless you're carrying a loaded rifle in certain places. Other than the statute quoted below, there are no more restrictions on your AR-15 or AK-47 than there are on your S&W Ladysmith .38 revolver.
Code of Virginia § 18.2-287.4. Carrying loaded firearms in public areas prohibited; penalty.
It shall be unlawful for any person to carry a loaded (a) semi-automatic center-fire rifle or pistol that expels single or multiple projectiles by action of an explosion of a combustible material and is equipped at the time of the offense with a magazine that will hold more than 20 rounds of ammunition or designed by the manufacturer to accommodate a silencer or equipped with a folding stock or (b) shotgun with a magazine that will hold more than seven rounds of the longest ammunition for which it is chambered on or about his person on any public street, road, alley, sidewalk, public right-of-way, or in any public park or any other place of whatever nature that is open to the public in the Cities of Alexandria, Chesapeake, Fairfax, Falls Church, Newport News, Norfolk, Richmond, or Virginia Beach or in the Counties of Arlington, Fairfax, Henrico, Loudoun, or Prince William.
The provisions of this section shall not apply to law-enforcement officers, licensed security guards, military personnel in the performance of their lawful duties, or any person having a valid concealed handgun permit or to any person actually engaged in lawful hunting or lawful recreational shooting activities at an established shooting range or shooting contest. Any person violating the provisions of this section shall be guilty of a Class 1 misdemeanor.
The exemptions set forth in § 18.2-308 shall apply, mutatis mutandis, to the provisions of this section.
