Even if you don't like the "Occupy wall street movment" this is pretty cool.

Nothing to see really, just and angry Marine yelling at police that are just enforcing the law.

Theres been alot of police brutality(aka in NY as "routine policing") over there; hence his yelling about it.
Re: 1 Marine VS 30 Cops
see I saw the pepper spray video and that guy was out of line and some of the usal fat head idiots but i also have a brother who is in the NYPD (and an ex deployed marine to boot) and they aren't all like that and apparently nor are all the protesters polite minding their own business sorts either.Kreutz wrote:Riposite wrote:ok i see him yelling-but in this video i don't see any police brutality...so I am not sure if it proves any point

No proof he is a Marine or former active duty Marine.
The only "cool" thing is that the cops did not react with force or arrest him.
This video proves nothing else.
Though I never lived in NY, I have seen and talked to active and retired NYPD officers and no brutality or negative behavior. The only negative behavior I have observed is one transit cop (not NYPD) raising hell with my cab dirver. The only emotion I have ever observed were the tears and frustation of one big, tough looking NYPD sergeant because of a dead robbery victim. With 35,000 cops in the NYPD, there will be some bad ones, but this video does not show any bad cops.

Yeah... all I saw was a guy causing a public disturbance. I'll go on and buy that he's a Marine, and I'll buy that he was over seas. But, he was being a nuisance.
I'd have to submit that the officers showed restraint in dealing with him. I'd also submit that, since the angry man was allowed to scream for a while and then got to go home, the officers were in a forgiving and/or understanding mood.

lawful doesn't make it constitutional... a lot of times at these protest police are enforcing policy rather than the law.
Re: 1 Marine VS 30 Cops
"Guy"? the video that caused the most outrage was one of a few young women penned in (and thus harmless) being sprayed.Riposite wrote:see I saw the pepper spray video and that guy was out of line and some of the usal fat head idiots but i also have a brother who is in the NYPD (and an ex deployed marine to boot) and they aren't all like that and apparently nor are all the protesters polite minding their own business sorts either.
The NYPD likes to use force, which is an established fact. Remember the dude who got body checked off his bike for no reason during the RNC protests? Or the many many unarmed black dudes who got shot a few dozen times each? Theres alot of high profile cases, but probably the low profile ones number in the legions.

and yes there have been some bad incidents -but there are lots of other low profile incidents that you don't hear about
Inner city ny is not a nice place-you see all those pictures of the 3rd world nation rebels shooting guns up in the air, parts of NY are like that, but they write it up as spontaneous celebratory fireworks on new years instead of a bunch gangsters shooting off the gun; or the crazy guy who the state let out to save money killing his roomate and then attacking a woman with a knife in the street and the press going well the police didn't need to shoot him (note he had already killed someone and was attakcing another), or a million other incidents, or the cop tackling the guy robbing a bodega with an automatic. The thing is
the press likes to sell a story, and yes there have been some bad incidents, and there are defintely bad apples in the NYPD, but just like anything else they cherry pick, just like th eabducted white girls get front page coverage, while thousands of non white girls never get a peep on the cable news.
Are some of the police overrreacting sure, are some of the protesters crossing the line, damn right. And the guy in the video yellling there, he's not yelling or getting up in the face of police brutality, in that example it's just police doing their job.
Heck this guys a marine right? But are we going hmm well that one group was out there raping iraqis nd killing them to cover it up and blame him for that?
This knee jerk reaction that the authorities are always in the wrong-it sucks and its part of the problem. If people already are calling you fascist and throwing stuff nad spitting at you all day, ever think that takes a toll and the next day maybe you are jumpy?

The police are not always wrong. Authority is not always wrong.
But don't forget that in this great country, WE THE PEOPLE are supposed to the the authority.
