ideas/pics for my new 556

Post by mcrobertson »

Hello everyone. Looking for some ideas/pics for my Ruger 556 I picked up. I know I want a short range weapon for less than 100 yards. Just trying to get some ideas or spark an idea of my own from someone else's idea or pics. Pics are more helpful with a description of the mods. Thanks everyone.

Ps any ar pic works 556 is just what I'm working with

I'll have to post pics later, but a red dot sight is great for fast acquisition at short distances. Get some ladder rail covers for the rails in lieu of those Troy ones - they won't look as "cool" but they will be lighter. I put a BAD Lever (http://store.magpul.com/product/MAG980/100) on mine as well.

optics? light? grip? can put about anything on it. I built a 10" AR earlier this year. Not a ruger but here is a pic to kinda show what you can add

Sopmod mk18 clone.

I have this "thing" for early iraq/afghanistan clone rifles. Simple RAS rail, surefire, optic(s) of choice. The real fun thing about these is building the "kit". It takes a while but multiple uppers with a SBR all in one box is a cool thing to pull out at the range.

While the Eotechs look cool, an Aimpoint on a Larue mount will have a much better battery life (measured in years) versus the Eotech, and I've seen two Eotechs go down in the past two years I've shot in competitions and ZERO Aimpoints go down.

Thanks guys. Sorry its taken so long for me to get back here. Life has been crazy the last six months. I actually went with a Eotech xps magpul afg and some rail covers. Trigger has got to go though. Thinking gissele or timney. Torn between the two although I do know I want a single stage. Also waiting on my bad lever from magpul and a ctr stock I've got on th way. Any more info pics is fun to read and look at. Thanks.
