Obama administration throws ATF chief under bus

Post by OakRidgeStars »

Well, sort of. Actually, he just moves down the hall to begin a new job. I guess he's learned his lesson.
ATF’s current acting director, Ken Melson, will move to Justice’s Office of Legal Policy this week to become a senior adviser on forensic science, the Justice Department said. Dennis Burke, the U.S. Attorney for Arizona who oversaw prosecutions in that state related to the Fast and Furious operation, stepped down and left the federal government.

Looks like he's going to get educated on fabricating evidence so next time it doesn't look so bad...

The cynic in me says he is still employed in an effort to control him. If they flat out fired him, they would have no control. Through his paycheck they still maintain some control. One more reason they can't fire him would be federal whistleblower laws, he said a lot of things to a Congressional committee about "Fast and Furious" that could be considered whistleblowing.
You just have to ask yourself, is he telling you the truth based on knowledge and experience or spreading internet myths?

And the office is for forensic "science" which time and again has been shown to lack any real scientific rigor. Not saying it's all like that, but most of those labs are staffed by "the guy whole knows computers" or "the gal who took AP biology in high school." There have been lots of articles over the years discussing how most of it is BS science and lacking proper controls.
