Lol, I'm not even checking it out until November when the small biz online part (supposedly) comes online.

Not sure if I'll come out ahead keeping my current small biz policy, opening a new one through the exchange, or opening a personal family policy through the exchange.

Um... yeah, the shut down really hasn't changed much for me. Private companies are still shipping and receiving large amounts of goods. I know this because I'm still working. And so are millions of other truckers. This is evident from the number of other trucks I see on the roads, in the rest areas, and in the truck stops. And, in various Walmart parking lots. DOT still functions; I'm still encountering open weigh stations.

All this "shut down" is doing is providing a nuisance to American citizens. Except in the case of those folks getting kicked out of their homes. That's a case of the government breaching a contract because the "President" didn't get his way and now he's throwing a tantrum. But, still, no direct impact on me... yet.

More than half the people who were furloughed have gone back to work already.

The biggest impact for me is I am spending a lot more time with my mother in-law. She needs a hobby. LOL

Shutdown? What shutdown?

"The government estimates that roughly 800,000 federal workers will get sent home if the government shuts down.
That leaves about 1.3 million "essential" federal workers, 1.4 million active-duty military members, 500,000 Postal
Service workers, and other employees in independently-funded agencies who will continue working.

And, we are being called back in small groups (like 400,000 at the Pentagon).

Fox news has it right - it's a partial slowdown.
If you are going to shut it down, then shut it the heck down. To call it a shut down while keeping the majority on the job
gives a false picture of what we (yeah, we, I'm a fed) actually do.

Anyway, next week I may start a thread to sell some of my firearms.

Looks like I'll be meeting with the FBI tomorrow in Fredricksburg. That ought to be interesting.
Then, I guess I'll see if Country Cookin is still open and have lunch there.

Ya know, if they are that hell bent on shutting down, then shut 'er on down. Do it right, do it for real.

Our impotent emperor can't even shut down a government properly.

I'm really disappointed by this whole affair... or lack thereof.

The shutdown seems to intentionally impact civilian life, not government functionality. I mean think about... do we really need to have a huge fence and 10 guys guarding the Lincoln Memorial to keep citizens and guests out, when is usually completely unmanned?

In the mean time, 100% of the revenue capturing is functional, but no refunds for over-payments are being processed.
