And don't print, either. That's brandishing.

No that is not how it works. I thought so too, but talked with a TX lawyer (mr. Cotton) on TXCHL forum and that is not how it works. If you intentionally display your gun, that is not allowed. However a simple matter of slight printing or even inadvertent exposure is not a crime.

Tx Penal code 46.035.
You have to intentionally fail to conceal the handgun to be guilty of anything. So printing does not count, a cover garment that flashes open does not count. Now wearing a mesh cover garment is questionable and I would not do it. Open carry is out of the question (for the moment).

Having lived in TX and dealt with this (unless the law has changed since I've been there a few years ago), the definition of intentionally can get you into trouble. If the arresting officer thinks you intentionally did so, even if you think you did so accidentally, good luck in court. This is why many residents suggest the strict interpretation which has been mentioned on the forum.
It's like our "common observation" clause, but with the burden placed on the CCer. (the argument being that in VA if you can see it, it's commonly observable...intent is a lot more wishy-washy and around the more blue parts of Texas, Austin in my case, intent isn't interpreted in your favor.)

I guess the difference between Northerners and YOU is on the rare occasion I run into an ignorant Southerner that has an issue with me based on where I'm from and you've most likely never been is I don't blame ALL of them for that one a-hole. Guess I'm just not as ignorant as you.
Been to every State North of the Mason-Dixon son and it's my experience that the vast
majority of yankees are pushy whining i'll mannered jerks. There are a few exceptions which I'm sure includes you but if you didn't agree you'd probably still be grazing with them.
MA even gained that special term for it's residents when they leave the State....massholes. I do believe that the term was first uttered by Mainers....
Come to think of it I get along well with my friends in Maine...

VA is Far from gone! I moved here from MA and Ill be on the front lines. Not gonna see that crap happen twice. MOST of VA is still sane, NoVA hasn't won yet. The more it goes, sadly, it reminds me more of home. Western MA is always talking about "breaking" from the rest of the state. If you think VA is a bi-polar state you should see Eastern vs Western MA. Sucks that the Lib areas which are usually the minority of the state always cause so much damage to the rest of the place.

Sad... And thankful at the same time... I got home from work, strapped my .357 on my side and ran errands with my daughter for about 2 hours. Even went Food Line for dinner groceries... Not one stare, not one comment, not one problem.
I even had police just LOOK at me and say not a word... Not the stink eye look, just the "hes just carrying a gun" look (not bad, not good, just observational look).
We in SWVA, and in particular Roanoke County have had it pretty damn good.
Ive been open carrying for over 3 years now.
I do have CCW, and do that quite a bit too... 99% of the time when I leave the house, SOMETHING is on me!
I worked corrections for 7 years, I *KNOW* the type & breed of people out there folks... and they outnumber us (the hard working level headed sound minded good people)!

We are still fighting it here. There is still a chance here if we can keep our voter rolls clean. If I am driven to TX, then evnetually I will go. But if I can, I really like VA. I would miss it. I have been here 23 years. It is home now. Also if the freedom lovers are driven to other states we must realize we are only buying time. Despotism will continue to creep. So unless one is doing a tactical placement of their family (IE we think TX will succeed and every state from AZ to MT to SC will go with them so we move) it is a putting off of the inevitable.

As happens so often, the law seems very clear - but some LEO's, prosecutors & judges who have a idealogical bent can twist the devil out of the obvious intent of the language.
My sister & her hubby have live in TX for much of the last 40 - 50 years. They now live in Bexar county outside San Antonio. My brother in law carries concealed, but uses a lot of caution when carrying in one of the 'great liberal meccas', where he carries small & light and very easy to conceal. He believes and has heard supporting expert opinions that such "overinterpretation" as described here, can often be defeated in court by a good gun friendly attorney. However, like a lot of us he won't take all the risks involved in not being very careful.
When he & my sister came to visit me a couple of years ago, he carried concealed here in the suburban and rural counties (loved that reciprocity), but I don't think he carried in the more politically correct left wing havens, such as Richmond, N. VA, etc.
