Re: How Much Ammo?
Rico, try this link. Just select your caliber from the pull down menu. Also look at the right side of the menu across the top for "Store List." That gives you a link to some of the more popular online stores to buy ammo. Happy shopping and shooting.

Re: How Much Ammo?
And you wanted to sell some of your ammo, shame on you! Look at Wal-Mart, *IF* they have any it shouldn't be too expensive. I just bought Blazer Brass 9mm for $9.50 per box at wal-mart. Some stores do limit you to 6 boxes right now though.804blessedsoul wrote:From the way every1 talking I gotta play catch up..waiting on august gun show at rir..
Re: How Much Ammo?
If things keep going down the road they are on, ammo maybe worth as much as gold, you better sit on what you have!

Re: How Much Ammo?
I'm still waiting on ammo I ordered back in January
It seems like there's going to be a lot of handgun ammo hit the shelves around August / September. At least that's what a little birdie told me

Re: How Much Ammo?
I'm finding that it is becoming easier to locate most any ammo I want. .380 still seems to be a problem but I'm finding everything else I want is available somewhere nearby.
Re: How Much Ammo?
Sure wish I could find some federal bulk .22
I have enough centerfire rifle and handgun ammo to supply a small third world country. Which if obama keeps on we'll be the third world country. Broke

Re: How Much Ammo?
I still prefer to remain silent about quantifying how much I've actually got. Suffice it to say though that I'm good to go until oh about 20 Jan 2013.

Re: How Much Ammo?
.. I can say that I have enough FMJ ammo to last me until the end of the year - provided that I do not shoot more than once a week at 50/rds. SD ammo, well since I have been tracking here and other sites on the "best" SD ammo, currently I have three-types/brands in each SD mag at 15/rds.
Off-topic but related... "how" do you store your reserve ammo? Right now I have a "home-made" box - hard plastic, with just about everyone of those little silicone packets that I could find for moisture control. Three different plastic boxes, with two "sealed" with tape to keep air/moisture out; third is the "rotating" stock container (for whenever the wife ain't looking I buy more ammo...")
Walmart has been pretty consistent with FMJ (9mm) at $9/$10 a box (w/limit 6) noticed some .40 in the 100/rd-box at about $30/$35 price-point. Have only noticed .45 at Dick's and it has been the (IMHO) god-awful "UltraMax" reloaded and smokey as a bar-be-que crap. Virginia Arms Company had about 20/boxes of 9mm, no .40/.45 on Monday of this week. I have not been to BRA this week (but the morning is still young, and I am off this week). NRA seems to have well-stocked supplies - tad expensive, but NO more than any other vendor in the area (about $.50 less than BRA, but still higher than Walmart, etc).

Re: How Much Ammo?
I store mine in different ways. Some is on top of the gun cabinet, stacked in it's original boxes; some is the crate I purchased it in; some in ammo cans; and some in a wooden storage box I bought from Wal-Mart years ago.

If the lights go out for 6 months, we do not have enough ammo.

Re: How Much Ammo?
was out at walmart yesterday in sterling...
got 3 of the last 5 boxes of .45 JHP...3 boxs of FMJ .40's
and 3 boxes of .22 WMG HP's ...
AND YES, they have a NEW rule of 3 boxes per caliber per person
at the Sterling Walmart...
They will have more .40 as they had about 50 or so boxes of .40
at $12/box...can't beat the price

Be particular, and be vigilant, as the enemy will only attack on two occasions:
When you're ready or when you're not ready.
Also never forget, that everyone who shows up, is not necessarily there to help.

If you only have 33 rounds to your name and cant find anymore I will give you a box...or is it that you always carry 33 rounds?gorknoids wrote:33 rounds on my person.

Re: How Much Ammo?
Since he has an XD9 service, i'd be willing to bet he has 16 in the mag, 1 in the chamber, and a spare mag on him.zephyp wrote:If you only have 33 rounds to your name and cant find anymore I will give you a box...or is it that you always carry 33 rounds?gorknoids wrote:33 rounds on my person.

Re: How Much Ammo?
That makes sense. I generally dont load my hi-cap mags full when I carry. I have no trouble on the range with them full but do try to eliminate variables.xjohnx wrote:Since he has an XD9 service, i'd be willing to bet he has 16 in the mag, 1 in the chamber, and a spare mag on him.zephyp wrote:If you only have 33 rounds to your name and cant find anymore I will give you a box...or is it that you always carry 33 rounds?gorknoids wrote:33 rounds on my person.

Yup! 2 full with one in the tube. I can't imagine a mag spring wearing out, or taking a set because it was left compressed. At best, it's a very slim potential. Even if it DID happen, what's the difference? The gun doesn't fire? If there's no ammo left, she ain't gonn'a fire anyway. Fill 'em up. Basic engineering dials in a 1000% safety factor in most designs, and firearm manufacturers have addressed this issue.

Re: How Much Ammo?
I agree gork, but am not afraid of the spring wearing out. Just want to leave nothing to chance like a misfeed due to a full mag. Wouldnt be the first time thats happened. Besides I usually carry a Beretta 92FS and thats 30 rounds if you carry an extra mag. If you need more than that then youre in deep doodoo to begin with.gorknoids wrote:Yup! 2 full with one in the tube.
