I may be a stupid person in your mind's but I have both lived and trained in Phila. Both you and Jim100 would not survive a week in that city.

Probably not, since I would lawfully open carry and one of your fraternity of badged thugs would be primed to shoot first and ask questions later, civil and Constitutional rights be damned!

Right?

Give it a rest, you aren't impressing nor scaring anyone... but you are pretty much qualifying everything bad that has ever been said about police officers.

You run your mouth. You think that because you wore a badge it makes you some kind of better person than the rest of us. Your attitude towards us "civilians" is contemptible and your demeanor is that of an cornered wild animal.

Don't wear your good arm out hurling insults, bub.

I think that is the insinuation, Wylde. You are really going overboard here, IMHO, Bill.

What are your thoughts on the young negro gentleman who has been unlawfully detained on 3 occasions in the eastern portion of our fair commonwealth for OC while young and black?

The courts and the city leaders felt that the "police acted stoopidly" except unlike obunghole, they DID know all the facts. Actually the were so confident that the thug cops were wrong that they felt it was best to get off cheap and offer a $10,000 settlement to the young man for the first incident alone. He was detained unlawfully for the third time while traveling on foot to resolve his second incident! :hysterical:

I met him at an a VCDL lobby day rally, and I told him how proud I was of him and that he should use at least some of that manna from heaven to buy more guns! (my waissist accusers, please take note of this)

Freedom and accountability - How do they work? Not by cowering in fear and preemptively surrendering civil rights, according to the founding fathers. I'm proudly with them on this type of crap. I am currently pursuing reaffirming civil rights at UVA. One of TJ's 3 proudest achievements. "I gun should be a constant companion on your walks."

Some of you gents here act like people who OC should get their arses back in the closet or be shunned and discouraged like sex offenders. Is there a constitutional right to "not be alarmed," or to not "feel safe?"

I love the "we didn't know what he might do!" with his holstered OC firearm argument. I carry a gun precisely because I don't know what the hundreds of people around me might do! How many out of 100 are mentally deranged, under medicated, intoxicated, possess evil intent or may potentially make a singular poor exercise of judgement that may threaten the safety of me and my family? I submit that it is a higher number than you may think!

I am wacky because I both recognize the potential for danger that the world presents, and accept the responsibility for protecting myself. I am a proud zealot in that way. I want to die of natural causes being murdered, anally raped and bludgeoned no more than zero times in my life. OC and CCW helps me maintain that record.

I would like to further thank Mr. Bill for pretty much validating my entire argument for me, by degrading my character and threatening me with violence for the simple act of refusing to "recognize his authoritay".

You make it almost too easy, Sarge.

No ass it has to do with you calling me and my children THUG's and a lot of other members of my family. I am sure that I am like a cornerd animal and I protect my own . There is no sense talking with people like you. And I am done with all of you, have fun patting each other on the back and please go to Phila and open carry with any luck you will catch a stray round.

For what it's worth, I don't think the blanket indictment of police officers as "thugs" was justified. In fact, I, who am not and am not a police officer nor related or connected in any way to police officer(s) and have had my fair share of confrontations with police, found it somewhat offensive. And that attitude towards police by someone who open carries worries me a little, because I'm concerned it could lead to a confrontation reflecting discredit upon Second Amendment advocates and gun enthusiasts generally. On the other hand, even when severely provoked, calling someone an "asswipe" pretty well put civil discourse beyond the bounds of possibility. I'll bet Bill's shoulder problems have shortened his fuse a right smart.

That rather neatly makes the point that folks can get carried away on BOTH sides of an argument. Both of the gentlemen involved in this present confrontation have made statements I didn't necessarily agree with in the past, and I said nothing BECAUSE THE ARE ENTITLED TO THEIR OPINION NO MATTER HOW MUCH ANOTHER MAY DISAGREE. (Also because I was a newbie and didn't want to get banned from a great group for being a smartass).

This is a good group. I'd hope every member of it could back off a little and not tear it apart. If we can't get along with each other, we've got a damned slim chance of persuading all those folks out there that ain't gun enthusiasts and ain't anti-gunners (yet) that our cause is just.

We are all fond of quoting Mr. Jefferson. He had 10 rules. One of them was, "When mad, count 10. When very mad, count 100." Friends, hearken unto the wise counsel of the Sage of Monticello.

Or, in the words of my Granddaddy Big Joe, "When you hear nothin', say nothin."
"The Bill of Rights is what the people are entitled to against every government, and what no just government should refuse, or rest on inference." -Thomas Jefferson
Gun-crazy? Me? I'd say the gun-crazy ones are the ones that don’t HAVE one.

I'm locking this now. All this thread proves is that some people can't play well with others.

I'm not taking sides in this. I think both parties went beyond the bounds of civil discourse with name-calling and other such nonsense.

The thread will remain locked, and I will ask that everyone just get along, and if someone ruffles your feathers, just remember that we're all on the same team here, albeit from different perspectives.

It's difficult for any of us to understand how we would approach a situation like this if we were in the police officer's shoes. I would like to think that I would not have acted like the guys in the audio recording, but I'll never know. Lumping all police officers into the same category is a bit unfair.

On the other hand, taking offense to to a post and returning the offense in kind isn't what this forum is about. We're all big boys and we can have some healthy civil discourse without allowing ourselves to degrade the conversation.

Thank you to everyone who continues to provide input here at VGOF. :friends:
