Looks like Snow is on the way !

Well, they've revised us down from 8-12 inches to 6-8 inches (today); probably because it's falling as super-dense ice crystals instead of fluffy flakes. Less snow never makes me mad, but I'm afraid this will make a bigger mess than a foot of the fluffy stuff. And it's slicker'n ary mole's @ss, I can tell you that.

Came in to the office as usual this morning. I'm the only one here. Not a soul even to answer the phone. Security company rent-a-cop didn't even show up last night. Looks like they've well and truly called off Friday here in the snake hills......

Its not snowing here yet, but I stayed home because last time we go snow like this, it took me 6.5 hours to get home from DC. I was Litterally driving on sidewalks and in snow filled ditches to get around idiots who were stuck in the middle of the road.

My mother in-law said it took her 5 hours to get home the night that clipped came through.

No way am I dealing with that veep again.

Snow got to Front Royal about 11:30. Pretty much covers everything at this point. Got food, firewood and alcohol. What could possibly go wrong?

Haven't seen any snow yet. We're stuck in a 20-30+ inch region. Blizzard watch starts at 3pm.

I'm going skip out around 2...although all the crazy drivers are already contaminating the roadways.

Then again, that's Virginia 24/7 in any case.

Tan out to the store this morning for some odds and ends. Nope. Total chaos. I stayed at the office last night until 1 am or so to finish up what needed to be done today so I could stay home.

Well, the sun actually came out and it quit snowing for a few minutes around 11:00 this morning, but now it's so dark and it is snowing so hard you can't but a couple of hundred yards.

Our snowplow guy that is supposed to keep our stuff clear just came and told me he had done all he could and was going home while he could get home. Poor guy's been on the job since 4:00 am. Told me that when I went up the hill on my winding driveway to my home I should plan on staying there (assuming I got there) all night and possibly all day and night tomorrow. He and his two helpers did manage to hack out a path for two tire tracks that ought to get me into my driveway if I use 4WD, he said.

It is very slick and all that dense almost-ice-crystals snow has packed down into 5-6 inches of almost-ice that a snow plow won't cut and that you can't stand up on. Branches and limbs falling everywhere. Power out in some areas. Screw it; I think I will just go on home.

About 1:30 I thought it was all over ......Only lasted a few minutes , it's been in high gear for the last half hour .

We had a light dusting around here over the past three hours or so. I've had the scanner on in my office while I'm working and the state police accident reports are non stop. It's good day to stay inside.

We are getting a little ice now . The snow has stopped and we have about 4" on the ground .... Quite a bit less than predicted !

It's been falling an inch per hour here in the Page valley, and the TV news just said it hasn't begun to intensify...that will begin around 11 pm.

We have food and drink, but no wood stove. As long as the power doesn't go out, everything will be fine. With it being so cold, the snow is light and fluffy so it shouldn't damage power lines. So I'm optimistic.

Amazingly, in a case of something that never happens, I managed to pick up my load out of Ohio several hours early. (This particular shipper is usually running hours behind schedule; never are they early!) So, I was able to escape the snow.

However, I AM headed to Washington state, so I'm still likely to hit some winter weather.

I am sure glad that I haven't caved in to TBH's demands that I shave this beard off my face. I would have been miserable, standing out in that icy wind, while fueling the truck this morning, had my face not been insulated.

I hear you on the beard. I do shave it off in the summer though... at least to a 5 o'clock shadow.

We only got about 5 or 6 inches here. This storm is not living up to the hype.

I think we are going to get more tomorrow but . Not the amount predicted . Snow is pretty much like sex....You never know how many inches you are going to get !
