Where can I go Plinking?

Post by gungoboom »

Hello Everyone,

Just joined the forum and wanted to know about plinking locations throughout Virginia. Ranges are great but I would still like to knock down some cans from time to time. I am in the Williamsburg area now but plan to relocate to Northern Virginia in a few months.

Also I am looking to shoot some black powder mortars as well, so if you have a location for both that would be all the more helpful.

Thank you,
Gungoboom :pistol:

Hi Gungoboom. Welcome aboard. I'd like to help you out, but not a lot of plinking going on here on my little 1 acre piece of the world :-/

Doug - Thanks for the welcome.

Rick - I appreciate the empathy. My area is restrictive as well. I would love a piece of land which is heavily wooded to help block out the sound.

Take Care,

Michael

Hiya Gun...I live in Williamsburg as well and have a friend with access to 450 acres over in Charles City where we shoot WW1 and WW2 bols and semis, handguns and occasionally flints and shotguns. I also go to the Charles City range (rifles only) starting in September. Quiet range on Sundays from 100 pm till 500pm. My 10 yr old goes with me and he looks for spent bullets behind the targets before range opens up. Check out some of my videos on Youtube, then search under CHANNEL for osu67 . You are more than welcome to meet up with us and shoot anything I have, or I can contact you when we go back to the 450 acre plot. PM me if interested w/ name and ph #. I also have a friend who lives on a peninsula over in Glouster where we can shoot. Be nice to meet someone from the board personally and go target shooting. Brian :welcome:

Being within spitting distance of Clarendon/Balston, not much room for plinking around here either. I've been trying to find the regulations regarding state/national forests, to see if I just drive into the mountains what I'm allowed to do.
I am not a pacifist. Pacifism is a shifty doctrine under which a man accepts the benefits of the social group without being willing to pay - and claims a halo for his dishonesty. Life belongs to those who do not fear to lose it

Welcome gungoboom. I live in NOVA and no where like that here. I'd love to have a place to do that.

Hi, welcome to the forum. Pretty much have to find someone with a piece of land to go plinking on. Most of the ranges (DGIF owned) that you could do that on do not allow it.
