This is a good article. When I first read the VPC report identified in the article, I had to wonder how true it was, and even if it were true - how do the statistics they presented compare with the rest of society, i.e. "Non-permit holders". Clearly just another attempt to scare the sheeple by putting out misleading information that looks dramatic.

Thanks for posting that article, Rick. I was wondering how that data could possible be true, but it's just more smoke and mirrors from the anti-gunners. It's always refreshing to see there's still some common sense out there in the media.

I hope you all didn't expect VPC to actually tell the truth for once. What they have done is typical of the way they operate, present raw data without any kind of comparison. Not to mention setting or extending the period of time used so that it nets the numbers they want. And lets not forget using the same terms (cop=killers, etc.) they always use in an attempt to either inflame people or draw sympathy. The bad part is that people are to lazy or ignorant to research and see the truth for themselves.
Re: Violence Policy Center Released Flawed Report
The most impressive part is that VPC claimed "This study alone should immediately halt any effort to create a national concealed carry system and, in addition, impel the repeal of state 'shall issue' laws allowing the carrying of concealed handguns."allingeneral wrote:This is a good article. Pierce provides a lot of evidence to why the 41 accounts are flawed. Yet even assuming that all of their 41 cases were legit*, they managed to prove that CC permit holders commit murder at a rate of 1/10 the US in general. (See danmbaz's blog for more related articles).
*Having any murders is a shame and my heart felt condolences go to those families for their losses.

They most likely use the same doctrine as infowars. Take a small truth and wrap it in so much crap and falsehoods that it becomes a conspiracy theory. Sadly people believe.
This is very odd. I checked the news articles posted earlier today by Fox and CNN and BOTH of them referenced the VPC study. I just went back and checked them again and that reference has been scrubbed from BOTH sites. That tells me something right there.

No more catchy slogans for me...I am simply fed up...4...four...4...2+2...
