Submit Form 1 & Form 4 together or separate?

Post by bryanrheem »

I was wondering if anybody had any experience in submitting multiple forms together. I don't know if it would actually speed up or slow down the processing of the forms. I have no clue if they are processed in different places or in the same place, etc.

If it's better separate, then I can go ahead and submit for a SBR and wait on the suppressor, or just wait to put them in together.

Thanks for the input!

Bryan:

You submit your Form 1 to ATF in Martinsburg, WV. Just as it says in the instructions and at the top of the form.

Your Form 4 package goes to the ATF "Lock Box" in Atlanta, GA, where they strip and deposit the payment and then forward the package to the NFA Branch in Martinsburg for processing. Just as it says at the top of the form.

Therefore, you need to submit them separately.

Good luck and hope you are ready to wait 4 to 6 months!

Post some pics of your toys when you get them!

Kind Regards,

CT

Also even if you submitted two form1 's at the same time, you might get two way different turn around times. It's a crap shoot. My last 2 form 1's took just under and over three months. The form 4 was over 4.

The "crap shoot" should be over now. The recent reorg of the examiner branch puts every VA submitted Form 1 and 4 in front of the same examiner (the GREAT Dana Pickles). Things are definitely getting better now that they are catching up with their pre-reorg backlog. I am seeing a couple of stamps a week now and my Form 2s are moving much faster.
