ranges, where?

Post by thekinetic »

I live in springfield and cannot for life of me find any muzzleloader friendly ranges nearer than warrenton, which is a freaking day trip to go out there shoot and come back. Any one know where one might be?

Dang, they need to make a completely smokeless powder for them then because it seems there is almost a hate by gun ranges for those guns. :(

its their insurance company that makes that rule I've been told.

You may want to ask if they would allow pyrodex, as it isn't black powder =)

I don't think so as I use pyrodex and it smokes badly, that and I heard some talk that the smoke contains cyanide. I guess it's Clarks Brothers in Warrenton or nothing, oh well I'll just have to plan it out ahead and make a day of it. :dunno:

Look up Phelps Wildlife Management Area, it's in Sumerduck. The sight in range is free, outdoors, and is closed on Mondays. They opened up today.

Instead of hearsay, why not look it up?

Probably a lot safer than dihydrogenmonoxide. It kills millions each year.

If the Richmond area would be any better for you, Black Creek range in Hanover Co. has ranges where they allow black powder. It is private but very reasonable - $100 / yr. Typically they have memberships available right after the 1st of the year.
