OC Dine-Out anyone?

Post by Alex »

Hey VGOF,

I wanted to know if anyone might be down for a lunch or dinner out while enjoying our 2nd Amendment rights? I live in the Charlottesville Area, but I can drive a little ways if the turn-out is good enough.

Thoughts?

Charlottesville is a bit south and west to catch much of the NoVA crowd....

Now pair it with a range day, and you might get people to travel.

That said, I'm close enough to Charlottesville that if you are on the north side of town I might be able to get down that way.

I should have been more specific.

I meant more that I personally am located in Charlottesville, but I am more than willing to travel, or even to drive a few people if there is a good enough turnout.

Assuming that I could make it to the chosen location, would the lack of a pistol on my belt be a problem? I'm not sure if I want to show up in a restaurant with a 12 gauge slung over my shoulder...

Hmmm perhaps we could have an OC rifle dine out.... now THAT would probably disturb a place.

Bonus points if we all wear our mall ninja gear!

Considering your age, have you OCed much in the C'ville area?
I've been lead to believe that this is not an area where the locals take kindly to OCing.
I just picked up my VA CHP last week and for several reasons I have yet to leave the house armed since I moved here the last week of May.
One reason being I'm living in a house with a C'ville LEO and she and my daughter would NOT take kindly to me getting into a situation (even if I were in the right) with the local constabulary.
We have some guns in common, BTW. My other rifle is a MN M44.
OBTW - I have to pass Monticello to get into town.

OK, DOH!!, I just read your other thread about OCing today in and around town.
Being mistaken for an LEO might work for you but I can guarantee no one is going to think I'm a cop.
Between my age and the fact I'm currently using a walker and hopefully in a month or two I'll be back to using a cane, I just don't fit the image.
Although, when I OC'ed in Ohio no one considered me a threat either.

I'm envisioning attempting that here in Williamsburg. This being a retirement community that's popular with wealthy, left-over hippies( as well as other anti-gun mindsets), I can see such a thing headlining the local paper, lol.

I wouldn't think it would be smart to have it in Cville, as I'm not too familiar with who's friendly and who's not. Like I said, I'm willing to drive, and willing to take some people from Cville with me. If anyone knows a good, friendly venue, I'm all ears.

Culpeper might be a decent central place for a dine out.

Culpeper would be a rather convenient location(for me, anyway), assuming that we scheduled it sometime close to Thanksgiving. It would be a rather appropriate time, too; we could collectively give thanks for our guns and the right to own them.

We had a shoot and greet in Culpeper last year. There were probably about 20 of us that showed up. Unfortunately, we can't shoot at the same place again because some people in a subdivision nearby whined to the sheriff's office that they heard A LOT of gunfire.

I've always wanted to go to the Bavarian Inn on 29. I wonder if it's OK to OC there.

I would be up for a Meet and Greet.
