Sure they can, they're just much more limited. For example, pump and semiauto shotguns are forbidden unless one qualifies for an exemption (usually for agriculture - pest control, as in the video).

Hence, the Norinco M1887 lever action shotguns are very popular down under. Part of the reason they're usually so hard to find here.

Oddly, while autoloading longarms are banned, they can still get certain autoloading pistols if they're part of a shooting sport like IPSC. They're not quite as oppressive as the UK, but they're not as free as New Zealand or Canada.

When did this devolve into the agribusiness and subsidies. I have zero problem with a farmer putting down feral pigs in that matter (= safely and away from bystanders), or paying to have it done for that matter. What retarded show has the armored dogs, and cages, etc.? If they are a menace, costly to crops, and that is an efficient way to remove them, I'm fine with it. Looks somewhat challenging too, and that meat can be used, but it has to be prepared PROPERLY, and I mean with a very diligent eye to food safety!

That's not hunting, it's just killing. If (looks like a big if) they were intent on saving the meat they sure are going to be busy for the next few days gathering up the bodies, boiling some big tanks of water, shaving the hair off, gutting and skinning and carving up that pile of dead pigs. I'll bet they're leaving them to rot.

You'd think they could make money (making it vs. spending it on the helicopter) by advertising for some paying customers to come out from the big city to hunt hogs in the country.

I'd rather hunt on the ground with a rifle.

Oh, I've been told by some old timers at home that if you don't catch the little ones early in the spring and castrate them the meat from the male hogs isn't worth much as table fare.

They have a short wild hog season down in southern/southwestern WV each fall but the pigs don't seem to be moving northward to where my folks live. Not sure why they confine themselves to those few counties down next to Tennessee.

I'd rather see these pigs hunted rather than just cut down from a helicopter. Seems like may not be the most efficient way of controlling the population.

And, yes, I'd feel better about this method of pest control if I knew the meat wasn't going to waste.

On the other hand, the music is great.
