Reminds me of the time I was heading to Dallas TX from Rochester NY. I was checking in and declaring my weapon at the counter. The woman stood right in front of me as I was opening the case to declare unloaded.
I stopped before picking it up and put my hand out in a shooing motion for her to move to one side, she gave me a dirty look. I explained to her, that anytime someone is pulling out a weapon it would be in her best interest to NOT be in front of the muzzle. Step to one side and ask the person to point the weapon down and at the wall AWAY FROM HER! Remind them to KEEP THEIR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER!
I then said, not everyone who is going to come to you is going to be as conscientious as I am. This is for YOUR safety.
I still don't think she fully comprehended.
