I just feel like stirring the pot. (But probably won't get a good debate going here.)

Which side is the fringe?

The 4 to 5 million current NRA members or
The 50 thousand current and previous Brady campaign members?

I'll take de bate....de fringe be whoever "they" make the most believe it is...and since "they" in this context be the Lame Stream Media we are the fringe...especially if you are God fearing, speak out against obummer, and are pro-life...the you be not only fringe but a threat...

One thing the MSM refuses to acknowledge is that many of us 2A supporters are not God-fearing and don't necessarily speak for or against Obama. And a lot of us yuppies with guns are really annoyed with how guns are portrayed by MSM... enough to sway voting decisions.

It really bugs me when the MSM refers to the NRA as just another "Special interest group". In m opinion, the NRA isn't a special interest group since they have such a HUGE following. To me, a special interest group is the 40,000 people who fight for gay marriage all over the country or the 4,000 people involved in the "Save the whales from the Japanese whaling ships".

The NRA is representative of a large enough segment of the US population that it shouldn't be treated as a "fringe" or as a "Special interest".

When the MSM speaks of the NRA guiding policy in our country, it should be taken seriously since our government is supposed to be doing as "We the people" want anyway.

I have to agree with the spirit of this reply. The LSM (As DK called them) love to focus on the very ragged edge of any group - be they fringe or mainstream. However, they will ignore the everyday folks who just go about their business (like the fine folks here on this board) and quietly affirm their beliefs every day.

While the NRA is a fine (although confused) organization, we need to support the more grass roots orgs like GOA & VCDL.
